Math
We are making a big shift in our math this week. Up until now we have focused on fluency with facts up to 20. Now we will be looking at story problmes, determining what equation is needed to solve the problem, and then what stratagy is best to solve that equation. This is an imporant standard in 2nd grade and one that we will focus on for the next month and a half.
Graded Papers
As I send graded papers home you might see one of two types of marking on then, either checks or a number. A check minus or a 1 means that your child is struggling with the current content. A check or a 2 means that they are working towards meeting grade level standaards. A check plus or a 3 means that they are meeting the standards being assessed. Early on in the year or a grading period checks and 2s are to be expected, as much of the content is news. If you have any questions about grading, please do not hesitate to ask.
Classroom supplies
We are low on tissues. If you could send in a box or 2, or order from below, that would be greatly appreciated.

Fluency Poem of the Week
Oh, I'm being eaten
By a boa constrictor,
A boa constrictor,
A boa constrictor,
I'm being eaten by a boa constrictor,
And I don't like it--one bit.
Well, what do you know?
It's nibblin' my toe.
Oh, gee,
It's up to my knee.
Oh my,
It's up to my thigh.
Oh, fiddle,
It's up to my middle.
Oh, heck,
It's up to my neck.
Oh, dread,
It's upmmmmmmmmmmffffffff
