Gifted Program
Six Gifted students participated in a “Hackathon” at the Intermediate Unit on Friday Nov 9 to raise awareness and combat the Spotted Lanternfly. They will design an app or platform to easily track, detect, identify and access information about the Spotted Lanternfly. The Hackathon is sponsored by the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources.
The Spotted Lanternfly is an invasive insect that could greatly impact the Pennsylvania economy. This insect has the potential to severely damage the grape, hops, and logging industries. Early detection is vital for protection of Pennsylvania business and agriculture.
Winners will present at the PA Farm show in January.
Library News
The library’s New Book Event was today Wednesday, November 14th at 2:30. Students could create a bookmark, check out a new book, and enter a lottery to win a Wawa gift card!
