Antietam
This battle began on September 16, 1862. The confederate commander for this battle was Robert E. Lee. And for the Union it was George McClellan. This was the single most bloody day in military history! The battle had no winner but the Confederate retreated so technically it was a Union victory. The battle ended on September 18, 1862
Fort Sumter
This battle began on April 12, 1861. This was the start of the Civil War. The Confederate Commander for this battle was P.G.T. Beauregard. The Union Commander was Robert Anderson. The first battle of the civil war ended on April 14, 1861.
Vicksburg
This battle began on May 18, 1863. The Union Commander was Ulysses S. Grant. For the Confederate Commander was John Pemberton. This was the longest battle in the Civil War. It ended on July 4, 1863, which was our day of independence.
Sherman's March To The Sea
Sherman’s March began on July 22, 1864 in Atlanta, GA. This march was a significant win for the Union because it was so much overkill that the Confederate knew there was nothing they could do. The march ended in the city of Savannah.
Appomattox Court House
This was the end of the Civil War. Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant. This event occurred on April 9, 1865. Finally, this bloody war is over.
Gettysburg
This battle began on July 1, 1863. The Union Commander was George G. Meade. And for the Confederate, it was Robert E. Lee. This was the turning point in the war for the Union. A whooping 51,000 causalities in this battle.
Fort Fisher
This battle began on January 13, 1865. The Union Commander was David D. Porter. The Confederate Commander was Robert Hoke. This was a win for the Union towards the end of the war. The battle ended on January 15, 1865.
