News for Marcellus Middle School students and families

Things to know . . .
- Homework hour is at the Middle School Monday-Thursday from 3-4 pm. Homework hour is available to all students and they do not need to sign up in advance.
- There will not be homework hour April 11.
- Solar eclipse is April 8
- Spring testing is done in April. Please see the schedule below for your child's test dates:
- April 16 is the PSAT for 8th grade students.
- April 25 is the 6th grade MSTEP for Math.
- April 30 is the 8th grade MSTEP for science.
- May 1 is the 8th grade MSTEP for social studies.
- May 2 is the 6th grade MSTEP for ELA.
- May 8 is the 7th grade MSTEP for ELA.
- May 9 is the 7th grade MSTEP for Math.
- Saturday School is April 11 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Families will be notified on April 21 if their student needs to attend. Any student may attend Saturday School - it is available to all students.
- May 3 is 7th grade vision screening
- May 7 is the 6th grade Orientation 6:00 pm at Marcellus Middle School
- The date for the Marcellus Middle School Farewell Dance is May 10 from 6pm - 8 pm. We will need parent volunteers to chaperone the dance and also to provide snacks for the students. The dance is semi-formal (no sweatpants, jeans, etc.). Please call the middle school office if you would like to volunteer or have questions about our final party of the year.

It is PSAT and MSTEP season again:
All students in the middle school will be participating in statewide assessments. Please see above for the dates when your child will be testing. Please have them come to school well-rested. We will provide breakfast at school, but if your child does not choose to eat breakfast at school, please have them eat before they come to school.
All testing will take place in the middle school gym. Please have your child bring a sweater in case the gym is cool. Thank you for all you do to to help your child to be successful with their assessments.
Candy Bar Sales Winners
Sixth grade students and a few seventh grade students sold candy bars for a fundraiser to help fund 6th grade camp this year. We had some amazing sales people.
Highest Sales 6th grade: Bryson Proffit and Angelica Reyes 13 boxes each
High Sales 6th grade: Skylar Sams-Beurrman 12 boxes
Highest Sales 7th grade: Akoyi Goodlow and Tana Jordan with 2 boxes each
The above students won $25 gift cards to Amazon - Congratulations and thank you for your hard work.

Middle School Yearbook 2023-2025 are on Sale Now
Please be sure to order your child a yearbook. They are $12 and will provide a lifetime of memories for your child. Yearbooks will be distributed to student the last week of school. Students can come to the office to order their yearbook. Money is due at the time of ordering. Orders are due April 19. If you miss the deadline for ordering the yearbooks, you will still be able to order one directly from Geskus, but there will be a $6.00 shipping fee added to the cost.
Marcellus Middle School Olympics
All students participated in MMS Olympics on March 28. The 5th grade class - our future 6th graders - walked over to the middle school to compete as well. It was great fun for all.
