Dear eDCSD High School Families,
This will be your last newsletter of the 2019 - 2020 school year! We wish you a wonderful summer! If you are heading off for new adventures at a different school, we wish you the best! If you are returning to eDCSD next year, we will be in touch over the summer with updates and news as it becomes available. Thank you for being a part of our school community and we will see you in August! Please read below for announcements and summer resources.

Student Poetry Magazine
A big shout out goes to our Middle School students who created a virtual poetry magazine. Students learned about different styles of poetry, wrote their own poetry, and then created and published this digital poetry magazine. Take a look HERE!

Summer School 2020
Did you know that eDCSD has summer school courses that are open to both eDCSD and other DCSD high school students? Our courses are unique in that they are eligible for grade replacement credit. You complete the entire course that you would during the school year but in an intensive summer session of only 3 weeks per semester course. We offer semester 1 courses during session 1 from June 1-19 and semester 2 courses during session 2 from July 6-24. For more information view the summer school page on our website. Registration is open now and closes for session 1 on May 25th. Registration for session 2 closes on June 26th.

2020 Graduation
As you are well aware, our schools and all activities have been closed through May. I want to assure you that we are going to do everything within our power to celebrate the outstanding senior class of eDCSD with a proper graduation ceremony.
As a district, we have earmarked two weeks to hold a delayed graduation. Please note that the location change allows us to maintain control as it is a Douglas County School District Facility.

Resources Through DCSD During School Shutdown
Clothing Resources
Parents and caregivers now have the opportunity to request a wardrobe for any student age 3 – 21 in need. Call Clothes to Kids us at (720) 379-4630 and dial “0.” Phones are open Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. If they don’t answer, please leave a voicemail. You can also request a wardrobe by emailing us at appointment@clothestokidsdenver.org.
Please be prepared to share the following information about each eligible student:
* First name, last name and date of birth.
* Sizes for clothing, shoes, socks and underwear.
* Color, style and clothing type preferences.
* Specific needs and special requests.

Mental Health Resources

AllHealth has provided the attached two electronic flyers as a resource to provide families. As the summer approaches and stress and challenges remain, the therapists at AllHealth will continue to be available for all students through telehealth services.
Medical Resources
STRIDE Community Health Center now offering Teledentistry to both NEW and established patients! Visit https://stridechc.org/telehealth for more information.
Everyone should be encouraged to access testing and treatment if they meet the criteria to be tested. Colorado’s call line for general questions about COVID-19 provides answers in many languages. To learn more call: 303-389-1687 or 1-877-462-2911. Individuals can use any photo ID, including those that are not government-issued, when accessing tests at state labs. Community Health Care Centers continue to serve anyone, regardless of status, and telehealth options are available. In addition, Emergency Medicaid continues to be available to all Coloradans who meet income and other eligibility requirements. This includes individuals seeking emergency care for COVID-19.
Paid sick leave and unemployment resources. Colorado Help Emergency Leave with Pay (CO HELP) rules apply to all Coloradans, including those without documentation. The rule temporarily requires employers in certain industries to provide a small amount of paid sick leave to employees with flu-like symptoms who are being tested for coronavirus COVID-19. Medicaid Update (as of 4.1.2020)-Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid Program) and CHP+ Continuous Eligibility • Individuals and families currently enrolled in Health First Colorado and CHP+ as of March 18, 2020 will receive continuous eligibility until the end of the month when the COVID-19 public health emergency is no longer in effect.
DentaQuest has free dental kits available for those in need to help them stay healthy while they’re staying at home. The kits are for either adults or children and include toothpaste, dental floss and a toothbrush. Contact Sarony Young (sarony.young@dentaquest.com). The IRS just launched a second web tool to expedite stimulus payments. Get My Payment tool will allow taxpayers to give the IRS with direct deposit information, ( if they didn’t include it on their 2018 or 2019 returns) thereby expediting the issuance. More details can be found here.

The eDCSD office is closed until the district returns to normal operation. Office staff are available by phone or email Monday through Friday from 7:30 am- 3:30 pm. Buildings will remain closed but office staff will be available by phone or email Monday through Friday from 8AM - 1 PM.

Dear eDCSD High School Families,
We want to take a moment to congratulate our Graduating Class of 2020! We know that this is not the senior year they imagined and we are still working on graduation plans for this summer. We will update families as plans are finalized. In the meantime, check out our Facebook and Twitter pages for a graduate highlight each day and give our seniors some shoutouts!
It is hard to believe but it is the last week of the school year! Students have until tonight, May 19th at midnight to submit all regular coursework. Final Exams are optional and can be completed anytime through Friday, May 22nd at midnight. Please communicate with specific teachers about final exams in each class. If you use an eDCSD computer, Computer drop off will be conducted on Thursday and Friday with details below. Please read below for this week’s announcements.

Computer Drop Off Information
During the last week of school on May 21-22 eDCSD will be holding our computer drop through a curbside process with specific assigned time slots. In an effort to limit interactions and to comply with current district and state guidelines, we are asking that students and parents/guardians to stay in their vehicles throughout the process. Per Douglas County School district guidelines students and parents/guardians will also not be permitted inside the eDCSD building during this time. We have put together the following information to give you more specifics around our upcoming dates and specifics around the curbside process. Please take time to review the material so that we can have a seamless process for everyone.
Schedule of Collection/Drop-Off Process: The times are listed below
K-8 Thursday, May 21st 10:00 am - Noon
9th - 12th Friday, May 22nd 10:00 am - Noon
(If you have students in both K 8 and 9-12 please just choose one of the times)
Collection/Drop-Off Process:
We are only allowed a limited staff to help us with this. We cannot have volunteers help. We have never done this before so we ask for everyone’s patience as we try to do this to the best of our ability.
Please fill out this form and attach it to the computer box, so it is easy for us to read. If there is any damage to the computer or any accessories are missing please note on this form.
Please limit number of people who come to drop off items (only family members please)
Wear masks to school site in your cars. Masks and gloves will be worn by staff who are helping with collection.
Please see the attached map below for traffic flow during the drop off.
Please wipe down the computer and accessories with a sanitizing wipe before boxing it up, if at all possible.
Family, please place the computer in the trunk of the vehicle before you arrive. When pulling through the drop-off area, family will pop open the trunk and staff will remove the computer.

State Testing Updates

2019-2020 District Assessment Dates
Spring 2020 CMAS and CoAlt Cancellation:
Administration of The CMAS (all content areas) and CoAlt (science & social studies) assessments has been paused for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year due to extensive school closures throughout Colorado to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Advanced Placement
As you plan for the remainder of the semester, please note that AP exams and the scheduled exam dates have both changed. AP Exams will now be given online and consist of 45-minute Free Response exams in each area. The dates of the exams will be May 11-22, and will consist of three exams a day: 10:00 am, noon and 2:00 pm. The complete schedule can be found HERE.

SAT / ACT Exams
Current summer ACT and SAT tests options:

Financial Aid Information
As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.
We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.

eDCSD and the DCSD Remote Learning Plan
As stated on page 6 of the DCSD Remote Learning Plan, eDCSD is business as usual. eDCSD grades will remain on the normal quarter grading system, attendance will be taken each week, and students are expected to put in their regular number of school hours.

Tomorrow morning marks the beginning of the final full week of school. Students have until Tuesday night, May 19th to submit all regular coursework. Due to the district remote learning plan through the rest of the school year, we will postpone our art contest until the fall. Stay tuned for more information at the beginning of the next school year!

Everyone should be encouraged to access testing and treatment if they meet the criteria to be tested. Colorado’s call line for general questions about COVID-19 provides answers in many languages. To learn more call: 303-389-1687 or 1-877-462-2911. Individuals can use any photo ID, including those that are not government-issued, when accessing tests at state labs. Community Health Care Centers continue to serve anyone, regardless of status, and telehealth options are available. In addition, Emergency Medicaid continues to be available to all Coloradans who meet income and other eligibility requirements. This includes individuals seeking emergency care for COVID-19.
Paid sick leave and unemployment resources. Colorado Help Emergency Leave with Pay (CO HELP) rules apply to all Coloradans, including those without documentation. The rule temporarily requires employers in certain industries to provide a small amount of paid sick leave to employees with flu-like symptoms who are being tested for coronavirus COVID-19. Tonight marks the end of week 6 of 4th quarter which means there are only 2 regular weeks of school to go! Focus on getting your work completed and finish off the year strong! All regular work is due on Tuesday, May 19th at midnight. If you need to make up credits, don’t forget that eDCSD offers summer school options. For more information, read details below. Summer School 2020
Did you know that eDCSD has summer school courses that are open to both eDCSD and other DCSD high school students? Our courses are unique in that they are eligible for graae replacement credit. You complete the entire course that you would during the school year but in an intensive summer session of only 3 weeks per semester course. We offer semester 1 courses during session 1 from June 1-19 and semester 2 courses during session 2 from July 6-24. For more information view the summer school page on our website. Registration is open now and closes for session 1 on May 25th. Registration for session 2 closes on June 26th.
2020 Graduation
As you are well aware, our schools and all activities have been closed through May. I want to assure you that we are going to do everything within our power to celebrate the outstanding senior class of eDCSD with a proper graduation ceremony.
As a district, we have earmarked two weeks to hold a delayed graduation. Please note that the location change allows us to maintain control as it is a Douglas County School District Facility.

2019-2020 District Assessment Dates
Spring 2020 CMAS and CoAlt Cancellation:
Administration of The CMAS (all content areas) and CoAlt (science & social studies) assessments has been paused for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year due to extensive school closures throughout Colorado to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Advanced Placement
As you plan for the remainder of the semester, please note that AP exams and the scheduled exam dates have both changed. AP Exams will now be given online and consist of 45-minute Free Response exams in each area. The dates of the exams will be May 11-22, and will consist of three exams a day: 10:00 am, noon and 2:00 pm. The complete schedule can be found HERE.

SAT / ACT Exams
All spring ACT and SAT tests were cancelled due to Covid-19. We highly recommend that you sign up for summer SAT and ACT test dates as soon as possible as those spots will fill up quickly.

Financial Aid Information
As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.
We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.

Everyone should be encouraged to access testing and treatment if they meet the criteria to be tested. Colorado’s call line for general questions about COVID-19 provides answers in many languages. To learn more call: 303-389-1687 or 1-877-462-2911. Individuals can use any photo ID, including those that are not government-issued, when accessing tests at state labs. Community Health Care Centers continue to serve anyone, regardless of status, and telehealth options are available. In addition, Emergency Medicaid continues to be available to all Coloradans who meet income and other eligibility requirements. This includes individuals seeking emergency care for COVID-19.
Paid sick leave and unemployment resources. Colorado Help Emergency Leave with Pay (CO HELP) rules apply to all Coloradans, including those without documentation. The rule temporarily requires employers in certain industries to provide a small amount of paid sick leave to employees with flu-like symptoms who are being tested for coronavirus COVID-19. eDCSD and the DCSD Remote Learning Plan
As stated on page 6 of the DCSD Remote Learning Plan, eDCSD is business as usual. eDCSD grades will remain on the normal quarter grading system, attendance will be taken each week, and students are expected to put in their regular number of school hours.
“eDCSD - Please note, this remote learning plan does not apply to eDCSD, which will continue to operate as an online K-12 school without in-person classroom teams. eDCSD students will continue to access classes as usual.” ~ DCSD Remote Learning Plan

There will be no school on Friday, April 17th and Monday, April 20th. Students may still access their courses but teachers will not be available. Please reach out for support by email and teachers will answer questions when they return on Tuesday, April 21.
2020 Graduation
As you are well aware, our schools and all activities have been closed through May. I want to assure you that we are going to do everything within our power to celebrate the outstanding senior class of eDCSD with a proper graduation ceremony.
As a district, we have earmarked two weeks to hold a delayed graduation. Please note that the location change allows us to maintain control as it is a Douglas County School District Facility.

2019-2020 District Assessment Dates
Spring 2020 CMAS and CoAlt Cancellation:
Administration of The CMAS (all content areas) and CoAlt (science & social studies) assessments has been paused for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year due to extensive school closures throughout Colorado to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Advanced Placement
As you plan for the remainder of the semester, please note that AP exams and the scheduled exam dates have both changed. AP Exams will now be given online and consist of 45-minute Free Response exams in each area. The dates of the exams will be May 11-22, and will consist of three exams a day: 10:00 am, noon and 2:00 pm. The complete schedule can be found HERE.
SAT / ACT Exams
All spring ACT and SAT tests were cancelled due to Covid-19. We highly recommend that you sign up for summer SAT and ACT test dates as soon as possible as those spots will fill up quickly.

As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.
We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.

Only a few days to go before Spring Break begins! Students should have all regular work submitted by tonight, Tuesday, March 10th. The cost comparison night provided by Western Colorado University will give families an opportunity to digest the financial aid offers provided by multiple schools. The Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence (E.M.B.O.D.I.) Male Youth Conference is a, FREE, one-day conference that is designed to motivate, educate and empower black male youth. Local agencies have joined together to offer free medical clinics in Castle Rock. Please see THIS flyer for more information.
Parking
Just a friendly reminder. During blended, please keep the parking spots along the building and the visitor parking spots open for drop off and pick up only. Limit parking in this area to 10 minutes. If you will be staying for a longer period of time, please park in the lot to the south of the building or along the street.
Weather Delays

Please note that a $100 deposit is required for check out and will be collected before checkout. The deposit will be refunded when you return the device in good condition. The deposit may be made by either cash or check in person. If you would prefer to pay electronically, you will need to contact the office before you visit the office so that we can put a $100 fee on your My School Bucks account.

It's time again to plan to attend UNC's Future Teacher Conference to be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free conference, presented by UNC’s School of Teacher Education, offers a variety of presentations and workshops to help high school and community college students interested in a teaching career learn what it means to become a teacher.
Participants will enjoy presentations from current pre-service teachers (UNC students), early career teachers, veteran educators and UNC faculty/administration. The conference is packed with information for students interested in:

Financial Aid Information
As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.
We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.
Pass along the important information below to all students you know will benefit!
FAFSA How To:
Create a FSA ID (separate for student and parent).
Fill out the FAFSA, available Oct. 1. Priority deadline is March 1.
Additionally, FAFSA forms can now be completed from mobile devices with the myStudentAid app (tips for using this app can be found here).
Castle Rock Free Clinic
Local agencies have joined together to offer free medical clinics in Castle Rock. Please see THIS flyer for more information.
Parking
Just a friendly reminder. During blended, please keep the parking spots along the building and the visitor parking spots open for drop off and pick up only. Limit parking in this area to 10 minutes. If you will be staying for a longer period of time, please park in the lot to the south of the building or along the street.
Weather Delays
In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.
If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.
Computer Check Out

Create a FSA ID (separate for student and parent).
Fill out the FAFSA, available Oct. 1. Priority deadline is March 1.

Local agencies have joined together to offer free medical clinics in Castle Rock. Please see THIS flyer for more information.

Just a friendly reminder. During blended, please keep the parking spots along the building and the visitor parking spots open for drop off and pick up only. Limit parking in this area to 10 minutes. If you will be staying for a longer period of time, please park in the lot to the south of the building or along the street.
Weather Delays
In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.
If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.
Computer Check Out
If your student needs a computer, you may check out a device from eDCSD. We encourage your student to use their own device, if possible. Please note that a $100 deposit is required for check out and will be collected before checkout. The deposit will be refunded when you return the device in good condition. The deposit may be made by either cash or check in person. If you would prefer to pay electronically, you will need to contact the office before you visit the office so that we can put a $100 fee on your My School Bucks account.

UNC Future Teacher Conference
It's time again to plan to attend UNC's Future Teacher Conference to be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free conference, presented by UNC’s School of Teacher Education, offers a variety of presentations and workshops to help high school and community college students interested in a teaching career learn what it means to become a teacher.
Participants will enjoy presentations from current pre-service teachers (UNC students), early career teachers, veteran educators and UNC faculty/administration. The conference is packed with information for students interested in:
Culturally and linguistically diverse education
Early childhood education
Elementary education
English education
K-12 education: music, art, sport and exercise science, technology
Rural education

The conference also includes the popular UNC student panel, lunch in one of the dining halls and a seminar for parents.

Awards Ceremony and Open House
On Tuesday, January 14th, we will hold an award ceremony and open house for our 9-12th students and families. If your child is receiving an award, you received an email informing you. However, all families are welcome to join us for breakfast, to meet staff, and celebrate our students’ accomplishments. We will serve breakfast burritos, coffee and juice. We hope to see you there! Dear eDCSD High School Families,
In addition to the baskets that the elementary students are creating for 3 students, we would like to create Thanksgiving Food Baskets for 5 families in need. Progress Grades
The mid-quarter due date for work submission is tonight at midnight. Teachers will post progress grades later this week. Students may still submit any work from the first half of the quarter through December 17th, however, any work from the first half of the quarter will receive a 30% deduction after tonight.
Thanksgiving Break
Just a reminder that school is closed the week of Thanksgiving, November 25 - 29. There will be no virtual meetings and no blended that week. Students may access their courses and submit work but teachers will not be available. This is a great opportunity to get caught up if you are behind.

What is Coming Up at Blended:

Thanksgiving Food Basket Donations
eDCSD is adopting five families for Thanksgiving this year. If you would like to donate please sign up for an item. All non-perishable items will be collected on November 18th and 19th. All perishable items will be collected on Thursday, November 21st. Please drop your donation(s) by the front office or bring it to Blended. High School students may earn community service hours for their donations. Each item is worth a different amount of community service hours. We thank you in advance for your support!
High School Community Service Credits:
Turkey = 2 hours
Pie = 1 hour
All other items = 4 items for 1 hour (or .25 hours each)

Weather Delays
With the recent weather, we thought it would be good to communicate what our general procedure will be at eDCSD. In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.
If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.

As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.
We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.

What is Coming Up at Blended:
On Tuesday, November 5th, students will meet from 9am - 12:30 pm. Students will have rotations with their teachers and Mindfulness for special. Students should bring snacks and water. We also have a vending machine for student use.
October Cancelation
On Tuesday, October 29th, there will be no blended due to the staff attending a conference. We will also not hold any VCs next week. Please check individual teacher course pages for more detailed information about what will be expected of students. Teachers will provide the necessary support in their classes in order to complete work assigned. Work WILL be assigned next week. Teachers will be available by email for support and questions but responses will be delayed.

Dear eDCSD High School Families,
Fall Break and the end of quarter are almost upon us. We hope that you and your family take some time to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and relax. Tonight is the deadline for all quarter 1 work to be submitted. Wednesday and Thursday are final exam days. All final exams are due by Thursday night at midnight. There is no school Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 20th. School resumes and 2nd Quarter begins on Monday, October 21st at 8AM. End of the Quarter Notice
Today, Tuesday, October 8th is the last day for students to submit work from 1st quarter. All work is due by the 8th at midnight. Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th are finals days. All finals must be submitted by midnight on Thursday, October 10th. No work for 1st quarter will be submitted after this time. Grades will be posted during fall break and 2nd quarter will begin on Monday, October 21st.
Fall Break
There is no school Friday, October 11th through Sunday, October 20th. Teachers will not be available and the office will be closed. Our office staff will be available by phone or email if you need assistance. 2nd quarter begins on Monday, October 21st at 8AM.

Students planning on applying to any of the 32 public colleges or universities in Colorado may want to participate in Colorado Free Application Day. This program waives application fees for students who apply to these colleges between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. on October 15, 2019.

7Sisters Global is excited to once again be providing a college-prep scholarship for economically challenged high school young women in Douglas, Jefferson and Denver counties for 2019!
The 2019 Scholarship application period is now OPEN! We will be accepting applications from high school young women through October 16, 2019.
We will award four $1000.00 scholarships in 2019 to young women entering their senior or junior year of high school for the 2019-2020 school year. Please reach out to Mrs. Bliek for more info!

Last Friday, we invited all families to join us at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We had a great time enjoying both the company of our eDCSD family and the animals!

A reminder that MOUNTAIN VISTA is the proud home of Greater Denver College Fair's BIG college fair on SATURDAY, October 5th from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 pm.
There will be over 225 colleges and universities from around Colorado and the country here in our gym and commons eager to talk to you and your student. I will be sending some common questions to ask college reps in the next week but wanted to remind you of this fantastic opportunity and encourage you to get it on your calender as well as remind all of your friends, neighbors and anyone you know that has a current high school student in the surrounding areas. The colleges are asking that students sign up for the fair through the website www.gotocollegefairs.com and print off your barcode so that colleges can scan it at their tables to get your information more quickly into their system. We are proud to announce there will be scholarships awarded at the fair for students that have registered for the fair as well as opportunities to apply for two other scholarships through this organization.
Attached to the bottom of this e-mail is the list of colleges as well as break out sessions on : Scholarships, Financial Aid, Private Schools, SCHOLARSHIPS SEARCH, and NCAA eligibility. Colorado Free Application Day - October 15
Students planning on applying to any of the 32 public colleges or universities in Colorado may want to participate in Colorado Free Application Day. This program waives application fees for students who apply to these colleges between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. on October 15, 2019.
Financial Aid Information
As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.
We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.

College Fair
A reminder that MOUNTAIN VISTA is the proud home of Greater Denver College Fair's BIG college fair on SATURDAY, October 5th from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 pm.
There will be over 225 colleges and universities from around Colorado and the country here in our gym and commons eager to talk to you and your student. I will be sending some common questions to ask college reps in the next week but wanted to remind you of this fantastic opportunity and encourage you to get it on your calendar as well as remind all of your friends, neighbors, and anyone you know that has a current high school student in the surrounding areas. The colleges are asking that students sign up for the fair through the website www.gotocollegefairs.com and print off your barcode so that colleges can scan it at their tables to get your information more quickly into their system. We are proud to announce there will be scholarships awarded at the fair for students that have registered for the fair as well as opportunities to apply for two other scholarships through this organization.
Attached to the bottom of this e-mail is the list of colleges as well as break out sessions on: Scholarships, Financial Aid, Private Schools, SCHOLARSHIPS SEARCH, and NCAA eligibility. Please note that colleges are still registering for this event. Also attached is a list of questions that students should look over before the fair to have some idea about what they would like to ask a rep from that school.

Grandparents Day Celebration
Grandparents’ Day is next month and in honor of that special day, I want to invite you to attend a unique event called “An Intergenerational Conversation.”
At the event, children and their grandparents will share ideas on how to make spending time together extra special. The event starts with a Keynote Speaker on the importance of intergenerational relationships, followed by a panel of local students talking about what they like to do or would like to do with their Grandparents. I know you’ll hear some great ideas and, perhaps, you can share some of your ideas too!
The event is free, and there will be light refreshments and cool door prizes.

Students will be able to purchase cheese or pepperoni pizza for $2 a slice or $8 for a whole medium pizza. Students must put in their pizza order between 9 am - 9:30 am. If students are not going to order pizza, please bring your lunch.

Parents will also be able to ask questions. We will record the meeting and post the link on the website if you are not able to attend. Boston Trip Opportunity
This June eDCSD is planning a High School Trip to Historic Boston, it will be an all-inclusive trip with tours to many of the historical sites Boston has to offer including Salem, Plymouth Plantation, and The Old North Church. Changes for the 19/20 School Year
Week: New for this school year, we will be changing what we consider a “week”. Our school week will now start on Wednesday morning and go through Tuesday night at midnight. This will allow students who wish to work over the weekend some school days on each end of the week to get support from staff. Attendance will be taken on Thursday for the previous “week” (Wednesday through Tuesday).
Blended: 9-12th Blended will be held on Tuesdays this school year. High School students will meet from 9am to 12:30pm every week.
Gifted Identification
If you would like to initiate the Gifted Identification process for your child, please complete THIS form. Be advised, you will need approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete the entire document. There is not a way to save your progress in this form. You need to be ready with your child to fill it out.

The Youth Leadership Summit is an opportunity for young people from diverse backgrounds to come together to recognize and appreciate their common humanity, develop leadership skills and begin exploring ways to address the future.

Parking
Just a friendly reminder. During blended, please keep the parking spots along the building and the visitor parking spots open for drop off and pick up only. Limit parking in this area to 10 minutes. If you will be staying for a longer period of time, please park in the lot to the south of the building or along the street.
Computer Check Out
If your student needs a computer, you may check out a device from eDCSD. We encourage your student to use their own device, if possible. Please note that a $100 deposit is required for check out and will be collected before checkout. The deposit will be refunded when you return the device in good condition. The deposit may be made by either cash or check in person. If you would prefer to pay electronically, you will need to contact the office before you visit the office so that we can put a $100 fee on your My School Bucks account.
Beginning August 8th, you may stop by the office anytime during regular hours 7:30AM to 3:30 PM.

The 2019 - 2020 school year is in full swing. We just completed our first full week of school and are now beginning week 2. On Wednesday, August 21st, we will hold our first Parent Orientation of the year. Join us to learn about how you can help support your student as they work towards a successful year. What is Coming Up at Blended:
On Tuesday, August 20th, students will meet from 9am - 12:30 pm. Students will have rotations with their teachers, time for social connection with their peers, and an elective project. Students should bring lunch to eat at blended.
Picture Day
Please mark your calendars for eDCSD picture day. I would like to encourage all of you to come and get your picture taken, if for no other reason than to have your Student ID. Your student ID gains you discounts at movie theaters, entrance to other school events, etc. Please plan to join us for this event. If you wish to order pictures, please complete the order form that was mailed. There are also order forms in the office. Please dress in appropriate school attire.
