National School Principal's Day
Principals are visionaries who work hard to build a safe, rigorous, and welcoming learning environment. They set the academic foundation to create the best educational framework for students. So it’s important that we celebrate them! Monday is National School Principal's Day. Be sure to take a moment to thank Mr. Collins for his leadership and dedication to Erwin Middle.
School Lunch Hero Day
When we say school nutrition professionals are heroes, we mean it! That’s why we celebrate them every spring with the annual School Lunch Hero Day. Be sure to thank a cafeteria worker for the difference they make for every child who comes through the line.
Tutoring
Did you know Erwin Middle is offering tutoring? Tuesdays stay for math and science help, and Wednesdays stay for ELA help. Tutoring is free and we provide snacks. All you need is a ride to pick you up at 5 pm. Stop by counseling or the main office for a permission form.
Early Release
Friday, May 5 is an early release day, so students will dismiss two hours earlier than normal.

Safety Information
As we approach Gun Awareness Day in June, we’d like to tell you about a partnership with Moms Demand Action. For our staff and parents who own firearms, this group is providing free gun locks and other resources for safe gun storage. Please visit BeSmartForKids.org for more information.
Additionally, we are partnering with the other BCS districts to host a Common Sense Safety Seminar. It will be held Tuesday, May 9th at Erwin High at 6 p.m. We will hear from several presenters, including Moms Demand Action, who will provide helpful safety information and updates. This is primarily geared toward families of 6th through 12th graders, though all families are welcome. RSVP is not required, but is strongly encouraged.
Spanish interpreters will be available to assist Spanish-speaking families.
