Owls
Adaptations Prey/Predator and Camoflauge
Adaptation!!
Owls have many adaptations for their life in the forest. They have totally silent flight from fringed flight feathers that muffle the sound of air passing through their feathers. This helps them sneak up on prey. Their excellent hearing allows them to sense small prey rustling in the leaves on the ground. They have large eyes set forward on their heads for great depth perception for hunting. The retinas of their eyes are packed with low light sensitive rods to see in low light. Their sharp talons are great for grabbing prey on the fly. All these physical adaptations help the owl to survive in its habitat.

The Prey of Owls
What is the prey of an owl?
All owls are carnivorous birds of prey and live mainly on a diet of insects and small rodents such as mice, rats and hares. Some owls are also specifically adapted to hunt fish. They are very adept in hunting in their respective environments.Carnivore mean an animal that feeds on flesh.
How do owls go in full camo mode?
Owls are meat-eating birds, so don't depend on camouflage as much as many other animals; instead, other animals use camouflage to protect themselves from being eaten by owls. That said, a camouflaged owl is harder to escape from than a visible one, so it does help some owls find food.Owls use camouflage to survive in a couple of ways. They can use camouflage to hide from predators, making it less likely to get eaten. But they can also use camouflage to hide from their prey, making it easier to "sneak up" on their food!
What are the predators of an owl?
Owls do not have many predators. In some places, eagles sometimes kill and eat owls, and smaller kinds, or species, of owls are sometimes killed and eaten by larger types of owls. The main animals that eat owls include foxes, cats, birds of prey like eagles and sometimes other wildly searching (for food) animals such as raccoons. Owls tend to be at the top of the food chain, and the bigger ones especially tend to have few predators. Other owls sometimes kill owls, but usually over disputes for territory and not as food
