East Hills Connections Newsletter
Edition #26
March 25, 2024
East Hills Chargers and Families,
The end of the quarter is HERE! The Tuesday we get back is the end of the quarter, please encourage your child to get any missing assignments complete before then! (Even better, the students should get the assignments in BEFORE break, so it isn't hanging over their head) Teachers are working hard for students that need retests, so they can bring up a grade.
We have a short week this week; we are off on Thursday and Friday. Next week, we are off on Monday.
Students are out and enjoying the weather. Our 7th and 8th graders that participate in sports are working hard to get ready for competitions. Our EHBOA performed in a parade, our choir performed in Together we sing, and we have a "Low Voices" performance tomorrow night at Northeast! This place is hopping in a good way!
Enjoy your long weekend with your family and friends!
Sincerely,
Dave Horvath (Principal)
Pat Tannous (Assistant Principal)
Regina Braun (Assistant Principal)

Lily's Hope
East Hills Faculty and Staff,
My name is Hannah Brodhead, and I am President of the National Junior Honors Society here at East Hills. As President, I have made it a priority this year to listen to the student body, and focus on projects and topics that the members were passionate about. This year, an organization that was brought into the light was Lily’s Hope, and we would really appreciate it if you could help us with this important cause.
Lily’s Hope is a non-profit organization that strives to help Preemie Babies and their families. The foundation provides care kits to families who are still in the hospital, families who are just arriving home, and families who need help getting off to a good start- as well as activities for any siblings who may need some extra support. Preemie Baby Lilian Hope was the inspiration behind this cause when she was born in 2007. From this moment on, it was made a priority to bring awareness to families in similar circumstances. Care packages consist of all different supplies, and we were hoping you and your classes would be able to help us bring support to Preemie Babies!
As our fundraiser kicks off, we ask that you share the list down below with your classes. These items will be collected, sorted, and donated to become part of the care packages. In addition to physical donations, we will also be collecting monetary donations to be put towards specific sized clothing and the correct types of laundry detergent. On Fridays throughout March starting the week of March 4th, an NJHS Representative will visit all of the classes to collect any proceeds. We ask that you keep it organized and marked with your homeroom number. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
The East Hills NJHS

We all need a little help sometimes.
Please take a minute to fill out this form to tell us, confidentially of course, about how we might be able to help out where we can with regards to your family needs. We believe that together we can do great things and offer support wherever we can.
If you would like to contribute to families that need support, we would like to hear from you as well.

BASD Report Card Grading Update
BASD Families:
Bethlehem Area School District is updating our Report Card Grading System for Grades 6-12 for the 2023-2024 School Year. The updated report card represents our primary aim: to improve our communication about student achievement toward learning goals with you. Elementary student report cards will remain the same. We wanted to share with you information on the new report card. Please take a moment to watch this video as Dr. Maureen Leeson, Assistant Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer, explains the updates to the report card and the changes you will see on this year’s report card.
