Pioneer Announcements:
Toolbox Next Week: We will focus on the Breathing Tool and being Respectful.
Report Cards: Pioneer Report cards will be mailed Friday, December 9th, and grades will be available on Aeries Thursday, December 8th.
Cold Weather: With the weather turning colder, we want to be outside getting fresh air as much as possible. Thank you for labeling their coats, hats, and gloves so we can quickly return them to students. Please remember that students can only play in the snow if they have boots, pants, and coats. Thank you for helping us keep our kiddos safe and warm.
Walk your student to the cafeteria Door: Thank you for ensuring the safety of our kiddos by walking with your student to the cafeteria door, or front office door if it is after 8:05 am.
Drills throughout the Year: Our children’s safety is our top priority. For this reason, we will practice fire drills and lockdown drills throughout the year. Our staff has been trained in the A.L.I.C.E procedures. Since this information, is new to many of our students they may be coming home with more questions. Thank you for your support in building a safe, educational environment where our students can thrive.
Bus or pick-up: Please let Mrs. Ashley and your child's teacher know by 1:00 pm if you need them to ride the bus or be picked up. This helps us have a smooth afternoon and ensure everyone arrives home safely!
QES Alder Happenings
Quincy Music Winter Concert
Monday, December 12, 6:00pm - QHS Lower Gym
QES 5th/6th Explorer Band will start the concert off--call time is 5:40! Please plan on staying for the entire concert as seeing the other groups is beneficial. Thanks!
All Elementary students are invited to help close the concert singing with the bands. Students, please arrive for the concert and come forward when it is time!
Staff Spotlight - Ms. Wayson
Originally from Austin, Texas and Winnemucca, Nevada, Ms. Wayson has made Quincy her home and raised her two children here. Her favorite elementary school memory is when her teacher read aloud "The King and Queen of Hearts".
She enjoys hiking, dancing, swimming in the river, watching true crime stories, and listening to love songs from the '70's and '80's.
We are so grateful for the support and care that Ms Wayson brings to QES!
QES Alder Principal's Corner
Congratulations to our 6th-grade boys basketball team for their victory over Portola! I am glad the weather cooperated so that our students can compete in the Tiger Classic this weekend. Good luck Cougars on your upcoming games!
Report cards will be mailed next week. A reminder that we have transitioned to a standards-based report card for all elementary school students in the District. Students will receive a mark of 1-5 for all standards that have been assessed this trimester. An "X" indicates the standard has not yet been taught and/or assessed.
If you have any questions about the report card, please contact your child's teacher.
Drop off and Pick up:
Please do not drop off or pick up across the street from school. Instead, please drive up Coburn street and then come down Alder, using our car lane. It may save a few seconds to avoid our car lane, but it creates a dangerous situation for our students, especially with snow on the ground. Thank you for your consideration for student safety.
Have a wonderful week off and a wonderful Thanksgiving.

All Californians now have access to free, online tutoring
Click here to start your free homework help session
Real-time free homework help is now available for California K-12 students through HelpNow, a program of the California State Library, by laptop, tablet, or phone from qualified tutors using state curriculum and standards.
The HelpNow pilot program currently offers help in Math and Language Arts, in English and Spanish, at any time of the day or night. Help for other core K-12 subjects is available between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog, with no age limit to who can take advantage of the resource.
Tutors can provide a virtual whiteboard, conduct live audio interactions with students, and work with learners on a wide range of concepts. Students are expected to work through the content and learn from the feedback. Tutors do not provide answers — they provide guidance and help.
All tutors have passed background checks and possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree.
Anyone using a computer inside of California can benefit from the live “HelpNow” program.
Simply click on this link to get started with a live tutoring session now. The average wait time is 23 seconds.
