Nurse's Notes
We learn about COVID-19 every day and we are working together to keep everyone safe. We need your help as we bring children back into the school building for in-person learning.
You should monitor your child/children every morning prior to coming to school for signs/symptoms of illness. If they have signs/symptoms of illness, you must keep them home and they should be seen and evaluated by their healthcare provider. Doctor’s documentation will be required. Please follow up with your school nurse regarding your child’s illness.
COVID-19 Symptoms:
Fever (temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher)
Sore Throat
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
New onset of headache, especially with a fever
New loss of taste or smell
Cough (for people with chronic cough due to allergies or asthma, a change in their cough from baseline)
Difficulty breathing (for people with asthma, a change from their baseline breathing)
Close contact with a positive COVID-19 case (Please notify your school nurse if anyone has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in your household before sending students to school).
Title I: What's the Best Way to Help My Child in School?
According to research, when children become readers in the lower grades, it’s an indication that they will be successful throughout their school years and into the future.
Give your child a good start by:
● taking opportunities to converse with your child
● reading to your child and with your child
● reviewing letters and sounds of words
● making connections with word patterns ex. make and flake
● setting aside a time for reading at home
● using new words to build vocabulary with your child
● helping your child understand what he/she is reading by asking Who? What? When? Where? Why? Questions or recall the beginning, middle or end of the story
Ingles Tools for Schools
Ingles Tools for Schools
Polk Central School is a proud participant of Ingles Tools for Schools. This is a valuable program that helps us get supplies for our teachers without having to spend a penny! Simply by linking your Ingles Advantage card to our school, a portion of what you spend is donated to our school in the form of points for these supplies. (No need to buy anything other than your normal groceries and it doesn't cost you anything either!) Please help our school by sending in your complete 12 digit Ingles card number with your first and last name, and we will link your card for you. Thank you for helping our school earn and learn.
