NORTHSIDE'S SAFETY FIRST
VAPE FREE IS THE WAY TO BE!
This video explores the world of e-cigarettes, highlighting their potential risks. E-cigarettes produce vapor with nicotine and flavorings but lack thorough health reviews. Research reveals harmful ingredients, including lung-damaging particles, oils, and toxic compounds. Nicotine's impact on developing brains poses addiction and mental health risks. It's crucial to protect our well-being and brains from potential harm.
-----------------------
At Pease MS, we consider the safety and well-being of our students as our highest priority. Vaping
among young people is a growing concern nationwide. We want to ensure that our school community is well-informed about the dangers of vaping and the recent Texas law addressing this issue. Vaping can have serious health consequences, affecting both short-term and long-term well-being. We urge you to have open conversations with your children about the risks of vaping and the importance of complying with the new law.
Together, we can create a safer and healthier environment for our students, ensuring their bright futures remain unclouded.
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY & B.A.R.K.
Parent, please continue to speak with your child about appropriate behavior on their devices and within their district email (to include emails, chat conversations).

BARK notifies Administration anytime a student:
- Accesses Pornography and/or writes sexual content
- Drug use
- Bullying/Cyberbullying
- Violence/Profanity/Obscene language/Racist remarks
- Self Harm/Threats to harm others
Students that receive a BARK, may result in:
- Administration notification
- Suspension of access and/or termination of privileges
- Disciplinary action

PEASE CALENDAR
DISTRICT CALENDAR
SOLAR ECLIPSE: APRIL 8, 2024
WEAR ALL BLACK!
On Monday, April 8, the northwest part of San Antonio will be in the path for the Total Eclipse, where the Moon's shadow will completely cover the sun, turning daylight into darkness for a short period of time. It is predicted to take another three centuries before San Antonio experiences the next Total Eclipse. Since this once in a lifetime event is occurring on a school day, Northside ISD will provide viewing glasses for all students and staff to safely view this incredible phenomenon. Students and district staff will be out with students to ensure proper use and supervision during the eclipse.
The time of totality for the Total Eclipse is predicted to be about 3 minutes from 1:33-1:36 depending on your location. We are planning on going outside at 1:20 to view the progression of the eclipse. For more information and resources, visit our Northside Solar Eclipse Page.
If you would rather your child NOT participate in this outdoor event, please sign the attached letter and return the letter to the front office at Pease Middle School. Campus staff will ensure your child remains indoors.
If you have questions regarding our campus event, please contact the front office. We are excited about this unique learning opportunity and are committed to ensuring a safe and educational
experience for all our students.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Cuevas, Principal

STAAR TESTING 2024
As we head into STAAR testing season, we would like to remind you of some campus guidelines around testing.
- Students are not allowed to have any technology on them during testing except for their district Chromebook. This includes cell phones, smart watches, airpods, earbuds, tablets, iPads, or any other electronic device. Phones will be collected before testing starts and will be returned after testing is complete on the campus. Any student who keeps their phone during testing will earn a consequence.
- We are a closed campus for all testing dates. This means you cannot drop off lunch for your child or eat lunch with your child. Students are allowed to bring a sack lunch with them, but will also be provided a school lunch. Students will not be pulled from a testing classroom- please do not schedule any appointments on these dates. If a student is taken out early, they cannot make up the test and it is a disruption to all other students testing in that classroom.
- Students do not need to bring a backpack on their testing dates. They will not be allowed to go into their backpacks until all testing is complete on the campus. All backpacks will be kept at the front of the testing classroom.
- Please make sure your student is here on time (8:30AM) or early so they can have a good breakfast before the test starts. They will not be able to eat again until lunch time.

- NO hats or hoodies
- NO blankets
- NO pajamas
Below are parts of the dress code that we are having to address on a daily basis. We appreciate your help and support. Consequences for dress code violations are given by the Associate Principal's Office.
● Any clothes that are suggestive or indecent or which cause a distraction will be prohibited. Specifically, oversized clothing, tank tops, muscle shirts, halter/crop tops, spaghetti straps, exposed backs or midriffs, and see-through garments are prohibited.
● All pants are to be worn at the waist (no “sagging”) Tight fitting pants (e.g. tights, spandex, bicycle pants, etc.) are also prohibited. Frays or holes above the knees are prohibited.
● Hoods of jackets and caps are not to be worn in the building.

AWAY FOR THE DAY
- Cell phones & earbuds must be turned off and out of sight for the instructional school day from 7:40AM-3:55PM
- Cell phones, electronic devices, & earbuds are NOT allowed in the hallways or bathrooms. Taking pictures or recording others on campus is NOT allowed and may result in a CAT IV offense.
- Electronic device violations WILL result in a referral and parents being contacted.
- If parents need to contact their child during the school day, please contact the front office. We will assist you with contacting your child. Texting and calling your child during class distracts from their instructional time with the teacher.
