Attendance Communication
Our aim during Term 4 is to decrease the amount of unexplained absences.
- We understand that, at times, children are too unwell or not able to attend school. Parents are legally required to explain their child’s absence from school.
- To assist Parents with explaining absences from school, we are now sending absences emails daily, along with our regular Sentral Parent Portal push to ensure Parents can easily explain their child’s absences on the day of absence.
- Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the absence will be recorded as unjustified on the student's schooling record.
- Did you know you can add a future leave request for future absences/leave from school? This can be completed in the Attendance section of the Sentral Parent Portal app.
We thank you for your assistance with attendance at Glendore Public School.
Erin Lewis
Deputy Principal (Rel.)
- Please be mindful of parking signs, the rules of the drop off zone and respect for of our local residences when parking around the school.
- Police have been notified by community members of cars parking across driveways and in the Glendore Childcare Centre car park, as well as concerns from the drop off zone.
- Unfortunately fines have been issued.
- Most schools experience heavy traffic congestion at school drop off and pick up times.
- However, it is still the responsibility of all parents and carers to ensure they follow the road rules around Glendore Public School.
- Parking restrictions are in place around Glendore Public School to assist in the management of drop off and pick up of your children, and to increase all students’ safety.
- Always ensure your child enters and exits the car using the rear passenger door on the footpath side.
Thanks in advance for understanding!
Thanks in advance for understanding!
- During Term 4, Weeks 1-4, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 students will participate in the Check-in assessment. The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
- The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with a disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
- All students complete a reading assessment, numeracy assessment and a writing task.
- Headphones will be provided by the school.
- All Students will participate in our 2022 Colour Run. As this is a school fundraising event, students are invited to collect sponsors.
- Students will receive 1 prize based on the amount that they fundraise for the school.
- The highest earner in K-2 and 3-6 will receive a $20 Flexischools Voucher.
- The highest earning class will receive ice blocks from the canteen.
- Sponsorship money will need to be paid via Flexischools by Monday 24th October.
What are selective high schools?
- Selective high schools are specifically designed to provide optimal learning conditions that will make a difference in supporting the development of academic talent and the wellbeing of high potential and gifted students.
- These schools help students learn by grouping them with students of similar ability and by using specialised evidence-based teaching methods to allow students to move through curricula at a faster pace and explore concepts in greater depth and with greater complexity.
- Research demonstrates that, in addition to providing academic benefits, grouping high potential and gifted students together is also good for students’ emotional wellbeing. Most students in selective high schools report higher levels of satisfaction from learning with, and being friends with, like-minded students.

- All candidates are required to sit the Selective High school Placement Test to be held on Thursday 4 May 2023. The test date has been moved to May to avoid a clash with NAPLAN testing.
- We are commencing 2023 class planning.
- If you would like to make any suggestions for 2023 classes, please email the school by FRIDAY 4th NOVEMBER, outlining the reasons for your suggestion.
- Any requests given for 2023 at the beginning of this year will need to be requested again.
- Please note that requests are considered only for the next 12-month period. Staff will attempt to allocate your request; however, there are many considerations taken by staff when developing class formations and not all requests can be met.

- The food collected helps supply emergency food to families that are in desperate need in the area.
- Food distribution is done entirely by volunteers and they do not get any funding therefore rely on efforts of the public to help them meet an ever growing demand.
