Congratulations to David Waibel Teacher of the Year!!
David is relentless in his approach to improving Foothill. Not only is he an amazing husband and dad of two wonderful sons, but he is an actual Foothill Graduate! David is an unbelievable teacher and Activities Director. Regardless if you’ve been in his class or not, he cares for every individual student on campus and motivates our staff to be excellent in everything we do. He engages students and makes them know he CARES for them. He is an excellent teacher to be around, and his overall love for the Foothill is Absolutely Visible.
Part of our C.A.R.E. Month - Foothill's ATA Play is the Laramie Project
Foothill looks forward to performing the play Laramie Project. The play reflects on an event that took place in October 1998 in Laramie, Wyoming. Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old student at the University of Wyoming, was tied to a fence post, severely beaten, robbed, tortured and left, alone, to die. The reason for this brutal crime? Matthew Shepard was gay.
Hailed as one of the most captivating and encompassing pieces of contemporary theater, the play shocks, challenges, and moves all who watch it as it reveals the lowest depths of hatred and greatest heights of compassion that lies within all of us. Foothill has a diverse student body and community, and we look forward to helping all of us celebrate the diversity among us. Themes that will be further discussed at the school will be anti-bullying, messages of “no hate” and “you matter” and celebration of diversity throughout the school.
The play will run Feb 28, March 1-2, 2018.
This play is for Mature Audiences Only - No children will be admitted.

Knights At The Movies - What a Hit!!
Foothill High School’s choral production of “Knights at the Movies” was Awesome! This year, they had 23 seniors, 5 different choirs, Hewes Middle School performers, and over 30 different Choir Booster Volunteers that were on site nightly to assist in the performance of songs from 30 different movies. This is an outstanding tradition that Foothill has enjoyed for many years. In fact, it is the longest running production in the history of our school. Each night our amazing students showcased their hard work and multiple talents.
An Fantastic Thank You to Chelsea Dehn and her team for their tremendous dedication and leadership in preparing our students for their performances. Also, a big thank you to our Ed Fund and Choral Boosters for providing this theater experience for our students and community.
French 1 Students "Travel" Around the World
During the past week, French 1 students "traveled" around the world to learn how to use prepositions with geographical locations. Mme Delgado created this scavenger hung by displaying various cities and countries around Foothill's campus and the French classroom with a school item at each location. The students were provided with a graphic organizer containing all of the school items and had to complete it using the correct preposition and city/country as they found each item. This was a great activity for students to learn a new grammatical concept as well as practice previously learned vocabulary. The students had so much fun!
Collaboration on Article Analysis with Google Applications
At Foothill High School, in Mrs. Chung’s ELA class, students were challenged to consider whether cloning was beneficial for the improvement of the human species or not. There were asked to review articles in small groups, answer general questions about their chosen article, make statements based of the evidence stated in the article, and comment on each others’ statements as rebuttals or in support of the stance of that statement.
Ms. Chung used Google Classroom to send all the articles out for review, and a scribe from the group made a copy of the agreed upon article, and shared it with the rest of the group as a Google Document. The students inserted comments within the document, and replied to one another’s comments. Ms. Chung stated: “In addition to being a great use of technology to support writing in the structure of Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning, the activity helps prepare them for similar types of writing assessments given by the state at the end of the year.” Familiarizing them with this type of virtual interaction with each other gives them confidence to succeed on those future assessments.
