Mrs. Fortunato’s Message
Spring is here with activities in and outside of school. We applaud our boys and girls basketball teams for another successful season! The Girl Scouts celebrated their 104th anniversary, our DI teams continue to compete, and one of our 8th grade students will sing the National Anthem for the Somerset Patriots this season. We are a blessed community!
As we enter Spring, we remember the season of Lent as well. I have read some great articles about Lent and ways to grow closer to God. We can "give up" and "take up" something during Lent. Here are some ideas to include over the next few weeks as we approach the most Holy week of our Catholic faith. Listed below are some ideas to consider, which I borrowed from one of my favorite websites.
- Start a prayer box.
- Add a daily morning and evening prayer.
- Add a daily or weekly rosary, or a decade of the rosary per day. Read books about our Blessed Mother Mary. Make a Rosary book.
- Pray the stations of the cross each Friday. Join our Parish on Friday evenings for Soup and Stations.
- Add special family prayers each night with dinner prayers.
- Choose someone to pray for every day during Lent.
- Attend daily Mass
Have a blessed time with family and friends as we all focus on growing closer to Our Lord.
Arriving to school on time continues to be a focus! We did such an awesome job during the IOWA testing weeks. As the days become longer with after school activities, please be mindful of the importance of arriving to school on time. Students should arrive between 7:45 and 7:50 am. When a student arrives late he/she misses morning instruction, and the rest of the the day may feel disorganized.
As a reminder, when dropping off in the parking lot, please help us to keep everyone safe. Do not pull up to the cross walk and let your child out of the car. Please park your car and walk your child across the cross walk to the sidewalk in front of the building. I appreciate your understanding as we work to keep everyone safe.
Upcoming Events:
Flemington Family Success Center- Friday, March 29 from 5:45-8:15 pm. The evening is a social for teenagers: games/movie/pizza are provided. If your 8th grade child is interested in joining us, please let us know!
Clinton Art Museum- Saturday, April 1st. Some of our student artists will have their pieces featured at the museum that afternoon. I encourage everyone to visit!
Spring Extra-Curricular Activities-Registration will be available in the near future.
