MHS Track & Field Headed to State
Two Melissa High School Track & Field Athletes are heading to State! Congratulations to Logan Tauch and Lincoln Dunn, who have secured three spots in the 2024 Conference 5A Track & Field State Meet in Austin on Friday, May 3. Both athletes earned the Regional Championship title in their respective events. Tauch will represent the Cardinals in the 3200m and the 1600m, while Dunn will compete in the 100m for MHS. MHS Tennis Athletes Advancing to Regionals
Three Melissa High School tennis players are headed to Regionals! The athletes competed at the UIL District Tennis Meet on April 24-25. Cade Gentry and Eddie Zeng placed 1st in boys doubles, earning the title of District Champion and advancing to Regionals along with Rylee Reddick who placed 2nd in girls singles. Ayan Bhardwaj placed 3rd in boys singles and is an alternate for the Regional Meet. Congratulations to the MHS Tennis Team for their hard work and dedication. Join us as we wish them good luck at the Regional Meet at the Melissa Z-Plex on May 9-10, 2024.
Melissa High School Enchanted Evening Special Needs Prom
Last Saturday, our Cardinals had a unforgettable night of dancing and fun at the Enchanted Evening Special Needs Prom. Over 40 special guests and their families were in attendance. Melissa ISD students celebrated the evening alongside students from neighboring districts from Anna, Blue Ridge, McKinney, and Van Alstyne ISD. The event was hosted by the Melissa High School Girls Basketball and Softball teams in the MHS Student Union. Melissa ISD Teachers Awarded with Pay it Forward Award
Congratulations to two Melissa ISD teachers who were honored by Mathews Auto Group (Honda and Nissan in Paris, TX) for their dedicated service to our Cardinals! On Wednesday, April 24, Jenna Carr, a first-grade teacher at Willow Wood Elementary, and Kisha Maurer, a sixth-grade science teacher at Melissa Sixth Grade Center, were recognized through the "Pay it Forward" program initiated by Tim and Julie Anderson, former Melissa Cardinal family members and dealership owners. Melissa Middle School Theatre Presents, Newsies
The Melissa Middle School Theatre's Mainstage Co. will be performing their spring musical, Newsies, on May 7, 9, and 11 at Melissa Middle School. The performances on May 7 and 9 will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the performance on May 11 will begin at 2:00 p.m. Newsies is a high-energy, delightful musical based on the historical news strike of 1899 in New York City. The show is under the direction of Louise Hickey, and choreographer Serena Hickey. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 a ticket. Make sure to come out to support your Melissa Cardinals!

Safety Reminder: Drive Safe in School Zones
Reminder: Let's prioritize the safety of our children by remembering to slow down and obey traffic laws and signs, especially in school zones. Be advised that the Melissa ISD Police Department will be helping to keep our campuses safe by enforcing traffic laws. Additionally, please remind the high school drivers in your household to prioritize safety by following traffic laws and exercising caution on their way to and from school.

Cardinal Football Spring Game Scheduled for Friday, May 10
Come watch the Melissa Cardinals football team in action on Spring Game Day at Coach Kenny Deel Stadium on Friday, May 10. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and community tailgating can begin at 5:30 p.m. The game is free to attend with concessions available for purchase, and fans will receive a free game schedule poster while supplies last.
