Inspirational Quote
“Children have such vibrant minds. They need to play. They need to be creative. They need to imagine. It's so important for their sense of self discovery. And it helps them learn problem solving."

Re-Enrollment for Current Families - 1/8/16 to 2/1/16
Re-enrollment Fee for 2016-17 school year:
The Re-enrollment fee for current families with students entering grades K-8 is $100 per student or $200 per family. The amount charged for new families with students enrolling in grades K-8 is $150.00 per student. The enrollment fee for all families with Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten students (Age 3 and 4) is $50.00 per student.
- The re-enrollment and registration fees did not increase this year.
All fees are a one-time, non-refundable charge that help subsidize the expenses that accrue for standardized testing, school handbook, marketing and communications materials, copying equipment and supplies, accreditation, professional development for teachers and other general operating expenses that tuition, parish investment and fundraising do not cover.
- In order to secure a space for next year, your re-enrollment fee is due Friday, February 1, 2016, along with the Re--enrollment Form (click the link below).
- If you have a child entering Pre-School (3YO) or Pre-Kindergarten (4YO) and another entering any grade K-8, please write separate checks.

EdChoice KY - Scholarship Tax Credit Programs
- New way for citizens to expand educational opportunities for all students
- “I am excited about this idea, which has been enacted and working in some form in 16 other states,” Alvarado said. “We owe it to our children to give them the best education we can, especially ones from lower incomes families who often feel like they cannot afford a different solution for their child."
- “This bill provides tax credits for Kentucky taxpayers who wish to donate to either nonpublic school scholarship organizations, or to a fund that would be used to improve public schools. Truly, we are trying to empower citizens to get financially involved in offering more educational choices and improving our public education system,” said Hall. “This is a win-win for education activists who value a role for nonpublic and public schools in Kentucky.”
- “The fact is that wealthy families have school choice already, as they can afford nonpublic schools or to move to a different public school district. But poor families lack those choices, and providing greater access to scholarships would level the playing field for Kentucky kids regardless of their socio-economic background. Getting this right is critical to developing an educated workforce designed to compete in the 21st-century economy,” Leis said.
- “This proposal, if enacted, will have a negative estimated net impact of $2.4 million on the state General Fund and a positive estimated net impact of $15.5 million on school district revenue for FY 2016-2017. The net combined impact would be positive, equal to $13.1 million,” according to the analysis, which looked at three buckets:
- ---State impact: The state would experience a decline in revenue of $25 million (the maximum credit allowed under this bill). This would be offset by $22.6 million in reduced state aid (SEEK) expenditures. After factoring these savings, we estimate there will be a net negative state impact of $2.4 million.
- ---Impact on local property taxes: There will likely be no impact on property taxes, at least in the short run, because they are set locally and independent of enrollment. In the long run, districts that experience significant enrollment change may choose to adjust property tax rates.
- ---School district impact: Local public school districts would experience $22.6 million in reduced SEEK revenue from the state. This reduction would be completely offset by $38.1 million in cost burden relief for students diverted from public schools. Thus, there will be a net positive local impact of $15.5 million.
- “This bill expands choice, is supportive of nonpublic and public schools, saves the state money, infuses money into local public school districts, and gives lower income families hope that their children can get the best education available. For so many reasons this is a good idea, and we are hopeful that this is an education reform Republicans and Democrats can rally around in Frankfort as a common-sense, bipartisan solution,” Hall said.

Book Fair - 2/12-2/18
Our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair from February 12th through February 18th! The book fair will run throughout the school hours The book fair will also coincide with the start of our Fish Fry and second-trimester conferences.
- This will be a great time to earn free books and money for our school, but this also means that we will need several volunteers to help run the fair.
Seeking Volunteers for Book Fair!
- Volunteers are the motivators to help any Book Fair become a success. We hope that you share with us your skills to help students discover the power of reading.
If you have some time to help us conduct our Book Fair, please complete the form by clicking on this link and circle the areas where you would like to help out. Send the form back to Beth Trusty by January 15th. I will send a more specific volunteer form with dates and times when I receive forms from interested volunteers.

Exciting New Energy Project
The Issue
The World as we know it is on the verge of a global energy crisis. In the United States and around the world, fossil fuels have become the dominant source of energy. We use coal, oil, and natural gas to power our homes, businesses, cities, cars, airplanes, buses and seafaring vessels.
Unfortunately, fossil fuels are running out and the costs of energy are becoming too much for average Americans to handle. Thus, we find ourselves at a crossroads as an American and global society.
Fortunately, alternative energy sources are starting to emerge as the need for a change becomes more in need. But which is the best to use? Hydro, Wind, Nuclear, Biomass, Solar, and Geothermal energy sources all have their pros and cons, depending on location, availability, and practicality.
Procedure
The class will be divided into five groups. Each group will be given a city and a scenario. The group will read the scenario and then decide which type of alternative energy is best for their city based on a series of questions that must be answered.
As a group you must:
- Research the alternative energy that best fits your scenario
- Answer the questions that accompany your scenario
- Create a bibliography (sites used)
- Create a presentation according to the guidelines you are given
- Work as a group, as a team, as a unit to best complete the project
