Rising 6th Grade Students
Advanced Art Information & Application Process
Advanced Art is a program for visual arts students who demonstrate an extraordinary interest in the development of their skills and creativity. This is an additional art class that meets once a week during the specials bell. In contrast to the general art class, students in Advanced Art are challenged beyond the standard curriculum with exposure to more mediums in a smaller group setting. Advanced Art can be taken in conjunction with a music choice if the child’s individual schedule allows, but will replace Multimedia Explorations.
Because of tremendous interest in the course, and limited space available, we are required to have an audition process. Current 5th-grade Advanced Art students must reapply for 6th-grade placement. Please have your child fill out Advanced Art Application Form and supply the accompanying drawing to be considered for the class.
Greene School Lost and Found
This Week's Lost and Found Items
With the warmer weather this week our lost and found has gained a number of sweatshirts, jackets, coats, gloves and hats! Please check out the Greene School Lost and Found slideshow to see if your child is missing any items. This is updated weekly in hopes that lost items find their homes!
6th to 7th Grade Transition Information
As we are beginning the second semester, please be on the lookout for emails from Sycamore Junior High regarding your student's transition to 7th grade. Upcoming events, timelines, scheduling, and more will be communicated to families via email. Do not hesitate to reach out to EH Greene or Sycamore Junior High with questions.
Final Call for Parents of Rising 7th Graders
Thank you to all the parents who have already provided proof of your student’s immunizations. Documentation of Tdap (tetanus, diptheria and pertussis booster) and MCV (meningococcal) vaccines are required by the State of Ohio to begin 7th grade. For those of you who have not done so yet, please call you physician and have a copy faxed or emailed to Laurie Dobrowolski the School Nurse at E.H. Greene Intermediate School. AND Christie Scholl RN support nurse.
If you plan on obtaining theses immunizations in an appointment over the summer, please let us know via email to minimize further notifications.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Junior High Fundraiser Committee
The JH Fundraiser Committee is looking for a couple of good Chairs! The Committee is in need of a Prize Chair and a Sponsorship Chair. The positions can be done solo or grab a friend and be Co-Chairs. The fundraiser date is TBD, but it will be in the fall. If interested, please contact Victoria Margroum at jhpto@sycamoreschools.org.
Interested in serving on the JH PTO Executive Board next year? If so, reach out to Debbie Flinchpaugh-Kirby at jhptocoordsecr@sycamoreschools.org.
News from the Junior High Counselors
Student course verification sheets will be uploaded to My eBackpack this Friday evening, March 15th. The Verification Sheet is a simple list of the courses planned for next school year; actual schedules will be built over the summer. Please take a moment to review your child’s course selections. If any changes need to be made, please contact your child’s Junior High counselor.
In addition, any Course Adjustment Request (CAR) forms are due no later than April 5th. These forms only apply to Honors level courses. If you want to change from an Honors course to a traditional course or change an elective course, no form is needed and you can email that request to your child’s counselor. If needed, the form can be found here, and is also available on the District website: Junior High → Counseling → Course Adjustment

Greene Walking Program
Tuesday, April 2nd through Thursday, May 16th
The PTO is excited to bring back the Greene Walking Program this spring. The program is a great opportunity for students to get exercise, burn off energy during recess, and even earn great prizes at the same time. The program will be available every Tuesday and Thursday during recess, starting the week after Spring Break.
There is no obligation to walk each week, but parent volunteers will keep track of the laps students walk each time and at the end of the program, the top 10 walkers with the greatest number of laps walked will receive a gift card to Dairy Queen.
Parents, if you would like to volunteer during the Greene School Walking Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays during recess, please sign up below.
