A Message from Mrs. Douthart
Principal, Five Forks Middle School
Dear Five Forks Families,
Well, we’ve made it almost an entire week without the brick and mortar school building! (Which happens to be a very lonely place right now-trust me!) I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am with how well our students and teachers have adjusted to their digital learning classrooms. Our students are logging on to e-Class in record numbers, and that is very encouraging! There is still so much to learn, and it will take all of us - students, teachers, and parents - working together to support this new normal!
Please remember that the school building is closed. In order to keep Five Forks as germ-free as possible, access to the building and classrooms will not be available to anyone until after Spring Break. This includes students, teachers, and other staff. Our team is completing a thorough deep cleaning of every inch of the building and only a limited number of staff will be working locally these next two weeks to answer phone calls. If you need immediate assistance, please call our main number- 770-972-1506. Chances are you’ll get to talk to me! :-) I’ve really enjoyed talking with the parents and students who have called these past few days. As I said, it gets a little lonely at the Forks without all the wonderful “noise” of learning!
Our teachers will spend some time in virtual collaboration meetings today. We call them PLC’s...Professional Learning Communities. This will give us an opportunity to make sure that all of our students are getting access to high-quality, AKS-focused lessons! As we move into DLD next week, we will continue to work together for the benefit of our students! Remember, reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions! They are here to help!
In closing, thank you so much for your support. I’ve enjoyed the many kind emails-the encouragement-that so many of you have shared with our teachers and me! They mean more than you can imagine!
Oh! In case you didn’t know, teachers get to wear jeans and spirit wear on Friday. Feel free to take advantage if you can. You have certainly earned your teaching badges this week, and we appreciate you.
Happy Friday!
Christine Douthart
