Bible study starts today @ 4pm in GAC 162!
Hi everyone,
I love fall and I'm so glad that it's very nearly here. I love the changing of the seasons. It's a nice reminder that the world--that we--are always changing. We are always in these little seasons of life and death, growth and pruning. I've been enjoying re-reading Barbara Brown Taylor's book, An Altar in the World. She has a beautiful way of describing these every day practices that connect us with God and the world and ourselves. This week's practice is walking the earth. This could also be described as being in touch with the earth if our abilities don't allow our feet to contact it in the manner of walking. Some people believe that when we walk barefoot that we absorb the energy of the earth. I don't know if we absorb energy, per se, but I do think that there is something powerful about remembering our connection to the created world.
There's a quote that I love pertaining the fall, "The trees are about to show us how beautiful it is to let dead things go."
Is there anything that you have been holding on to that you could set down? It's rarely as easy as just setting it down, letting it fall, choosing to be unburdened. Some burdens are not so easily released. If there is something that you've been holding on to and you're struggling to let go of, talk to someone. It could be a counselor, a friend, a pastor, your friendly neighborhood chaplain :)...anyone you trust. As someone who knows how heavy the proverbial "leaves" can become, I also know that sometimes the first step in letting go is to share it with someone else.
You are in my prayers,
Nadia

NCF Bible Study Thursdays at 4pm!
Harvesters Christian Fellowship: Fridays at 7 pm in GAC 151!
Iron Sharpens Iron.
Harvesters is intended to build community among Christians at Nazareth College. In fellowship, we encourage and sharpen one another in our constant pursuit of intimacy with God. We are called to ‘harvest the field’ that God has placed us in. By responding to this call with passionate worship, prayer, and service, we strive to bring revival and unity to our campus and beyond. Ultimately, our vision is to be our generation’s demonstration of an Acts church - a growing and maturing body of believers living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We meet every Friday 7-9 PM in the GAC Community Room (first floor). Our time together consists of prayer, worship, and a study of scripture. If you enjoy pizza, ping pong, and healthy discussion, come join us! All are welcome.
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." - Matthew 9:37
"Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." - John 4:35
