Ridgeview STEM Junior High
Weekly Update - May 2, 2018
Tech Connect
Technology and education go hand-in-hand in Pickerington Schools, and a special event planned for May 10 will give parents, students, and the community a chance to see first-hand how the district is creating 21st-century learning environments.
The community is invited to “TechConnect,” a first-ever event featuring students and teachers sharing how technology is being used to support learning in Pickerington Schools. The event will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Heritage Elementary, 100 N. East Street.
The event is for all age levels and will begin in the Heritage gymnasium with a technology playground, allowing all attendees to discover and ask questions about various technologies being used by our students and teachers. Featured booths will include how students are using drones, coding, Bloxels, Ozobots, Wevideo, virtual reality, Google Suite, Puzzlets, Digital Clue, student news crews, and more.
After the Technology Playground, guests will move to the auditorium to watch students and teachers present projects they have completed this year. Each student will use the stage to give a 5-minute presentation to present their project. Presentations will include students and teachers from all grade levels. Watch first graders using Ozobots robots, elementary students creating digital books, middle school students creating podcasts, junior high students designing digital portraits, high school students creating and annotating video, and more.
The Pickerington Police Department also will be on hand to present a session on digital safety in our community.

STAFF APPRECIATION
Next week is Teacher Appreciation week and we will be treating our amazing RJHS staff to a taco bar luncheon. Please click on the SIGN UP GENIUS if you can make a donation of food, drinks, gift cards, paper plates, etc. Thanks in advance!
THANK YOU!
Thank you to all the parents and families who helped us out this year in the school store, chaperoning Teen Nights, sending donations of food and funds, working basketball concessions, and so much more. Without your help, we could not provide the support and activities that our Ridgeview students and staff enjoy.
We wish the best of luck to the 8th grade families as they move on to high school.
For those who will be at Ridgeview Jr High next year, the PTO is looking for Officers and volunteers to keep next year going. We will start putting things together over the summer to have a good plan when school starts back up in August. If you are interested in helping out in any way, or learning more please contact Tammy Powers at 614-397-2402 or tpowers1608@gmail.com.
