A New Way of Doing Things
We thought we’d shut the Library for three days in March for Spring Break. That didn’t turn out the way we expected, did it? So your friendly Library Ministry staff has been trying to figure out how to accomplish our Mission.
It made us think about what our Mission actually is. We are still all about the books. But much more important, and now more than ever, our real Mission is to use Library resources to create community for fellowship, reading of books, and prayer. (Which is a lot like Acts 2:42, substituting “reading of books” for “breaking of bread.”)
We are still thinking about how to do this, but we found one pretty good tool: Zoom. On Wednesday, March 25, we had two Library Zoom meetings. In the morning we had about eight of our Community Story Time families with us, including three of our favorite readers. It was a jolly time, and only marginally less disorderly than when we meet in the Library.
Later the same day, we had a Zoom gathering of our Thread Heads. We caught up with each other and made a little progress on our needlework projects.
We will schedule both of these Zoom groups again for the coming Wednesdays until we are able to be together in one physical place again.
We will also plan a Zoom meeting at 6:30 on April 8 for our Wednesday Evening Book Club to discuss Factfulness, by Hans Rosling.
Our next Big Event is Summer Reading Club, starting June 8. Stay tuned on that.

Last Week's Story Selections
The Wide-Mouthed Frog by Keith Faulkner
The Beginner's Bible by Kelly Pulley
The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson
Library Closed Due to COVID-29
The Library will be closed due to federal, state and local health guidelines. As long as Dallas is under a shelter in place order and the PCBC campus is closed, the library will closed as well.
If you have library books or other resources currently checked out, hang on to them until the campus is open and available again. Please ignore any overdue notices that our automated system might send you. No need to request a renewal. We trust you will return them when our doors are open again. As always, we don't charge fines or late fees!
So Many Books and Videos, So Little Time
If you are weary of hanging around the house, you may not feel as if time is fleeting. A quick look on the bright side, though, may show that you have a tiny bit more time for reading or watching Christian videos, right? Thankfully, our PCBC Library patrons have access to an amazing wealth of e-books and audiobooks through OverDrive, and streaming videos through RightNow Media.
As a reminder, if you want RightNow Media, click on the icon below. Sign in with your email address. Use the “Forgot Password” procedure if you’ve forgotten yours. And if the system doesn’t recognize you, email us by clicking the middle icon and we’ll send out an email invitation.
For OverDrive, go to https://drcldc.overdrive.com/, or download the Libby app, by clicking on the icon links below. To sign in, use your username and PIN if you remember it. Try using the first part of your email address for your username and the last four digits of your phone number for the PIN. If that doesn’t work, email us at library@pcbc.org (link in icon below) and we’ll email back the information.
Now's a Great Time For the 2020 Challenge
You might as well be purposeful with your reading. Stretch yourself a little by taking on the 2020 Challenge. Between now and December 31, read 20 books of different genres, such as a book about animals, a book by a PCBC author, a book about the Bible, and so on. Lots of great ideas to stretch your boundaries a bit. If you want a prize, we’ll think of one. But the real prize is just the fun and accomplishment of reading a bunch of books. You can also accept the 12 Months/12 Books Challenge. It’s all good.

Click the Right Button
There’s a new member database at Park Cities Baptist Church. It’s known as TouchPoint, and it’s a treasure trove of useful information. When you go to the PCBC website, you’ll find a Member Login button in the upper righthand corner of each page. It couldn’t be easier to log on and check out your member profile.
But – if you want to access our online patron access catalog, OPAC, don’t confuse the Member Logon button on the Library page with the Account Log On, which is on the Library Catalog.
It’s just a little confusing if you’re a newbie at this. So check it out and give us a call if you have trouble logging in to OPAC. Hint: You can get directly to our OPAC page and log on using our FREE Librista app on your phone. Or if you’re at your computer, use this link.
