MSD Budget Information
As are most other districts in Oregon, MSD is facing a challenging budget season. With emergency relief funds coming to an end, student enrollment dropping and a tight labor market, the budget committee will have to make some hard choices.
This year, the budget process is particularly complex because the district is in contract negotiations with the licensed (teacher) union. Because school districts’ primary expense is staffing, when contracts increase, the budget must be balanced elsewhere.
On a positive note, McMinnville School District has a tradition of strong fiscal management and we’re hopeful we can negotiate a fair contract and prioritize our budget to meet our academic goals.
If you would like to follow the progress of the MSD budget committee, you can find meeting dates, zoom links and minutes here. Click here if you would like to follow the bargaining process.
