A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Greetings, Members of the Kingsway Community,
Kingsway Regional Middle School had an outstanding October! We kicked off the month with a three screen multimedia presentation entitled, Point of View. The presentation received great reviews from our students as it brought awareness to the idea of being mindful of others’ point of view and perspective. In addition to the presentation, the students engaged in a teacher-led discussion about respect, perspective, point of view, and acceptance. Overall, the day was instrumental in kicking off this year’s #1DragonFamily initiative and the Week of Respect.
Our clubs and activities are in full swing with anywhere from 100 to 250 students participating every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school. We look forward to a productive November where we hope to recognize many of our students at our second Renaissance Celebration as the first marking period comes to a close. On behalf of the entire middle school faculty and staff, enjoy a relaxing fall break with your family and friends.

KRMS Play: This year’s middle school play entitled, “Once Upon a High School” will be performed in the West Gym on Thursday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. and Friday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m. Students must be with an adult in order to attend. Please come out and support our actors and actresses.

Renaissance Celebration: Our second Renaissance Celebration will take place on December 7. The students will have a great time while being recognized for all of their efforts throughout the marking period. The students will take a field trip to Altitude Trampoline Park in Wilmington, Delaware. It was a hit with the kids last year!

How to Help: Each stage of parenthood presents its unique challenges. Guiding our teenagers through their middle school years can be an overwhelming and daunting task. At times they struggle to stay organized, to advocate for themselves, or to know how to study for an upcoming exam. As parents, we know that there is not one single formula or a set of directions to help our children through these critical years, but we seek out any tips and advice we can find with the ultimate goal being our child’s success. Outlined below are 4 tips you can utilize to assist your child through his/her middle school journey as well as a link to an article entitled, “10 Ways to Help Your Middle School Child Succeed”.
1. Encourage your child to advocate for himself/herself. Asking questions about a grade, posing a clarifying question, or talking to their teacher after class about a situation are all part of the maturation process and help to set our children up for future success in all that they encounter.
2. Have frequent conversations with your child about what he/she is learning in his/her classes and how he/she performed on his/her last assessment.
3. Look at the KRMS website to target clubs/activities of interest and make arrangements for your child to stay after school. Getting involved always pays off!
4. Encourage the use of our Math Working Lunch Program. This program was designed to help clarify daily mathematical concepts.
Miscellaneous
Career Day: On November 21, 2018, Kingsway Regional Middle School will be holding its annual Career Day. We have numerous community members and parents who have given up their time to make this possible. Each student will hear from a variety of presenters throughout the entire day. A huge thanks to all who have signed up to present.
Evacuation Drill: On October 2, we conducted an extensive evacuation drill. We practiced both stage one and stage two of the drill. The students executed the drills to perfection!
