The Pizitz Post
for Students, Parents & Families - March 11, 2024
An Appreciation of Diversity
In an effort to continue celebrating our diverse backgrounds, next week we will be celebrating I am Vestavia Week. This is a new opportunity for all students to hear about the cultures that are represented within our school- encouraging our core values of respect and acceptance. We will begin the week with a multi-cultural assembly on Monday morning, highlighting current and former Pizitz students. Following this event, we will celebrate a variety of cultures through different themed foods in our cafeteria, lessons surrounding acceptance. and activities in classes that highlight different cultures.
Our district festival will take place on Monday evening at the high school. There will be food trucks, activity tents, and a guest speaker. All are welcome to attend this event any time between 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. See more information about the week here.

Report Cards
The third nine weeks ended on Friday of last week. All grades will be finalized on Friday, March 15 for the third nine weeks report cards.
If students are concerned about a grade or feel that their grade does not reflect what they know about mastery of standards, they should reach out to discuss their concern with their teacher. As student progress through the grade-levels at Pizitz, we expect for them to work to advocate for themselves. Teachers are also open to hearing from parents should you have a concern about your child's learning. We like to partner with students and parents together to help students grow academically.
Scoliosis Screening
Our students have an opportunity to participate in the Scoliosis screening during their regularly scheduled P.E. time later in March. We would love for your child to participate in this free screening opportunity. Please fill out this form if you want to opt-in to the screening. Only students with completed forms will be screened. You may email the completed form to Nurse Nancy or turn it in to your child's academic strategies' teacher by March 14. Please email Nurse Nancy with any questions (Hennekern@vhcs.us).
