Principal's Message
Dear BES families,
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
"For each petal on the shamrock, this brings a wish your way: Good health, good luck, and happiness for today and every day."
Spring Break is just around the corner! School is closed March 25 - April 1. Students will return on Tuesday, April 2.
Thank you to our PTA for another successful Mother/Son movie night! The rain did not stop hundreds of our BES students and their moms from enjoying Kung Fun Panda at our local movie theater.
I am personally continuing to witness unsafe behavior in our parking lot. This includes driving too fast through the parking lot and dropping off your students in the "passing" or left lane of the parking lot. I will be personally reaching out to those parents whose students are identified by staff members regarding unsafe driving. It would be a great tragedy if something were to happen to a student, staff, or community member due to the negligence of following some basic and simple safety rules. Please be sure to read the information below regarding parking lot safety. Thank you for your continued support in order to keep our students and families safe.
Please see below for some important information and flyers regarding upcoming events from the PTA!
Safety concerns
The parking lot continues to be a major point of concern for our BES school community. We have over 900 students that are dropped off and picked up daily. Our staff works diligently to ensure that this process is a safe one. In many schools, you will not see the safety commitment from staff members to be out before and after school in the parking lot ensuring student safety. We are very lucky to have the ability to do what we can to make our student drop off and pick as free from potential dangers as possible. We all have places we need to be, and sometimes run late, but the safety of our students and larger BES school community is of utmost importance to me and the BES staff.
Not only do I receive communication from parents and staff members about safety concerns in the parking lot, I have witnessed it myself. It would be a tremendous tragedy if a student were hit or an accident occurred due to drivers not adhering to one of the following safety expectations. Your support is greatly appreciated.
- The right lane is for dropping off your student, the left lane is the passing lane.
- You must wait in the right lane for drop off. It is extremely unsafe to use the left lane to get ahead of waiting traffic to then cut in front of another car in order get into the right hand drop off lane.
- Along the same lines, it is extremely unsafe to drop your students off in the left lane. You are putting your student at risk of being hit by another car as they dart between cars that are waiting in the right hand/drop off lane to move forward during drop off.
- You may not exit your vehicle in the drop off zone when dropping off or picking up your student. We must keep the flow of traffic moving. If you need to help your student in or out of the car, please find a parking spot.
In conjunction with the Bonsall Women's Club, the 2nd Annual Art Show is coming up! Please see the flyer below regarding entries and email (raeanne.dupont@bonsallusd.com) Ms. Dupont with any questions regarding entries.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Allison Fortney

Counseling Corner
Hi there!
This week I wanted to speak about the importance of being proactive and organized to prevent burnout. The definition of burnout is when physical, emotional, or mental exhaustion is accompanied by less motivation, lowered performance, and negative attitudes toward oneself. It is important to be ahead of this and make sure that you are not over extended.
Here are some signs and symptoms of possible burnout:
1. Constant Fatigue
2. Apathy
3. Emotional Outbursts
4. Changes in Normal Patterns
Attached are some ways to prevent burnout.
