What is it?
- Leadership building, Public Speaking improvement, Development of good research skills, Increased awareness of local, regional, national, and international issues, Participating in competitions, Club bonding and Meeting new people!
You can learn speech or debate events.
What's the difference, you ask?
Speech: There are 3 types - prepared speeches, extemporaneous speaking, and interpretations. Students typically use the same speech all year with the exception of extemporaneous speeches.
Debate: There are many core types. Event topics range in that debaters discuss value, fact, and policy issues. Debate often requires you to be informed about the world around you (opinionated) and up to date with current events.
When and Where is it?
Freshmen Campus: Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at lunch *place tbd*
First meetings of the year: Main Campus, room 214, at lunch on August 25, 2014 and August 27, 2014. (meeting all Wednesdays of September on Main Campus)
