Storage. It's a problem, no?
All GCS staff have access to OneDrive, a storage place for all documents, video, photos, etc. that works. Simply upload your documents here at school and you will have access when you need it at home or in the cafe.
Upload
While at school, go to https://onedrive.live.com and sign in with your GCS credentials (username@gcsnc.com). Be sure to select OneDrive for Business.
In OneDrive, you can keep your folders private or share with others, even those w/o an account.
Share
To share it, click the Share button and instead of invite people, go to get a link. Then in the drop down menu you can select View only - no sign in required and copy the link.
For more info., see GCS tips. Thanks to media specialists R. McConaughey and C. Reeves for their suggestions.
Primary sources
Jada Jones and Keith Gormon from UNCG Special Collections and University Archives did a great job teaching our students about primary and secondary resources @ the library and online. The 10th grade English team of Alicia Mooney-Flynt, Shawnette Cruz and Christina Purgason organized the event which taught students about The Declaration of Independence and Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, using digitized images of the original documents and evaluation tools.
Speaking of primary documents...
I had the opportunity this past week at NCCAT to learn from archivists & librarians from UNC Chapel Hill, the State Archives of North Carolina and the Outer Banks History Center about primary document research, specifically for our area of the country.
If you're planning a project using primary documents, let me know. I'd love to help you. I'm building a Pinterest page (I know, I promise-no cheesey pictures) with resource links for primary document research. If you have any to add, send them on! I look forward to working with you. https://www.pinterest.com/adamscp513/primary-documents/
