Hotspots and Wifi Resources
Hotspots
The first wave of hotspots arrived, and tonight, the community will received directions on how they can request one. Tomorrow a call will be made to all students to ensure everyone is amply aware. Please note, assignment of these devices is not first come first serve but rather the priority is for families (including teachers) of the greatest need. If you know of families or staff who would require assistance, please have them call the Support Center between 8 AM, and 5 PM or they can submit a request online at http://bit.ly/LCPSHOTSPOTREQUEST. DDI will continue to monitor the level of access and continuously evaluate what LCPS can do to ensure all means all.
Also, nearly all the internet providers have made additional services available for either free or drastically reduced prices, see below:
- Comcast is offering the Essentials internet package for free for 60 days
- AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint have removed data limits for cellular data customers

Resources and Information
We wanted to provide our families a few links and resources tied to COVID-19 and continuing education.
As you may know, LCPS developed a website for our community on navigating the challenging and ever-evolving information related to COVID -19. You can find the link to the site below:
Below are a few websites from the link you may find of immediate use for how to support your child, both educationally and emotionally, during this time.
1. The National Association of School Psychologists has a guide of how to talk to your students about COVID-19. Here is that link:
2. LCPS has already developed resources for families to consider for educational activities. Continuity of Education is continuously updated with learning resources. Please click the link to review what is available for your student.
3. If you have questions for LCPS, you can submit them using this link:
CONTACT You can also call the newly formed hotline at 571-252-6499. This hotline is available from 8 am to 5 pm each weekday.
4. Our teachers were engaged in professional learning this past week about how to support our students academically. You will receive notices from teachers on Monday through Class Dojo about how students can access learning activities that our teachers develop. If you are not on Class Dojo please check your email for an invite from your child's teacher.
5. This resource is from the CDC. This guideline provides some comprehensive information.
6. This link will assist in finding the stops and areas for breakfast and lunch distribution.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and stay safe and healthy. We will communicate updates as we get them.

2020 Census
The nationwide 2020 United States Census will begin March 12, 2020. Loudoun County government has been working with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) to inform every Loudoun resident about the census process and why it is so important, particularly for LCPS populations that are historically undercounted.
Loudoun’s Census count impacts LCPS more than any other county program. Loudoun County receives more than $31 million in federal funding for school programs based on Census data. These programs include free and reduced-price school meals, special education, Title I resources, Head Start, teacher training and more.
For each child or adult not counted in the 2020 Census, Loudoun County expects to lose $2,000 per year in federal funding during the next 10 years.
