Optometry
Margaret DeConcini
What optometrists do
They analyze test results to develop a treatment plan. The treatment plans can involve prescribing glasses, contact lenses or other aids. Optometrists educate and counsel patients on care, hygiene, and safety factors. Sometimes they have to remove foreign objects from the eye. They provide patients with pre and post-operative care. They consult with other doctors or health care practitioners.
Goal: to produce treatment plans for patients
In order to produce treatment plans for patients, you have to analyze information for patients by consulting with doctors.
Goal: to assist with supplying and using vision aids
In order to assist with supplying and using vision aids, you have to educate patients on how to take care of their eyes and how to use contacts.
Goal: To provide patients undergoing surgery with care before and after surgery
When you provide care to someone before the surgery, you inform them about the surgery and after the surgery, you inform them about providing therapy.
