Library Media
Students have started checking out books in the Library Media Center! Kindergartners and 1st graders are working on learning about taking good care of books and working toward showing responsible behavior in order to check out books. 2nd and 3rd graders are working on picking "just right" books and 4th and 5th graders are taking a deeper look at how the library works and is organized. Please help your student take good care of their library books and help encourage them to bring books back to school on their library days.
Mrs. Stallings, our Guidance Counselor, has begun teaching lessons in the library as well. Her lessons will focus on social and emotional learning and investigating the core values of our Community of Caring program: caring, respect, responsibility, trust and family. Her lessons alternate weeks with Mrs. Sananikone, the Library Media Specialist.
Thanks for your help and Happy Reading!
Art
Art students are creating some outstanding work and constantly surprising us with their hidden talents. The Art club students are working on a special project to beautify our school with classroom themes that include history, science, and culture. We’re off to a great start.
Music
Happy October everyone! For this spooky month in music, students will be creeping it real by learning new instruments and using their voice in new ways. We have started solfege (do re mi) and will continue to use this technique throughout the year to help with learning notes and intervals. 5th graders have begun to use bucket drums and are learning how to listen well when playing along to music, and 3rd and 4th grades are using movement along with singing, so we are keeping active! K-2 are learning new instruments and how to read notes on a staff and beyond. Here's to October! Keep calm and carry a wand this month everyone.
