MMA Monday Montessori Moments
May 7, 2018
A Message from our Director, René Baker
Thank you!
As we near the end of the 2017-18 school year, I would like to express my extreme gratitude to you. Our school would not be what it is today with your love and support. Thank you for providing class snacks, teacher appreciation, and dinners during conferences. Thank you for donating your time to read to our students, organize class cultural activities, attend school functions, and chaperone field trips. We appreciate you transporting your children to and from school each day and multiple field trips each year. We believe field experiences provide authentic learning and connect our students to the greater community.
The most intense field experiences we have at MMA are the 6th grade trip to the Alliance Redwoods and the 9th grade trip to Crow Canyon Archaeological Site. These two trips happened last week and involve students (and teacher/parent chaperones) spending an entire week together traveling, learning, and growing. A large source of funding for our field experiences is provided by School Land Trust Funds.
We know that you have many choices for your child’s education and we are honored that you have entrusted MMA with your child’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
For us to continue to grow and be able to meet the needs of all of our families, we need feedback. Please take time to complete two surveys for us - using the links below in green. The first survey is part II of the AdvancEd survey that we are required to give as part of our accreditation process. The second survey, MMA Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey, is MMA created and gathers additional feedback not captured in the AdvancEd survey.

Thank you MAPA!
Thank you for your participation in MAPA, our parent organization. Extra special thanks goes out to the MAPA board Heidi Bradley, Alisha Coakley, Ashley Carleson, and Shauna Guthrie. This year MAPA donated $10,000 to our school, which will help fund the new school playground! MAPA also brought Track it Forward to our school, which has been extremely helpful as a place for you to document your volunteer hours and as a platform for us to advertise all school events in one place.

We need you!
MAPA is our school's parent organization. Because of MAPA, we do not have to rely on monthly fundraisers- like wrapping paper and chocolates. School-wide functions like Skate Night, Fall Festival, Gratitude Feast, Field Day and the Gala all happen because of MAPA. We do not want to lose out on these events.
Wanted: Parents interested in helping with fundraising for 2018-2019
We are in need of a Chair and Co-chair to organize our fundraising for the 2018-2019 school year. Committee members are also welcome! Funds raised will go towards all grade levels. We have streamlined things quite a bit so that there are only 4 major fundraising events throughout the year, instead of one per month. We have had an incredible community response in donations to these events. The skeleton is in place- we just need parents to take it and run! If you are interested, please contact Ms. Rene at rbaker@mariamontessoriacademy.org .
We would like to meet with volunteers as soon as possible so that dates can be set and assignments can be given to give the committee a head start for next year. If you have questions, please contact Jenna Beers at 801-695-5864.
