PRINCIPAL PENOYER'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Good morning, Patriot Families,
We had a great turnout at our McNight event this week! Thank you to all the staff, students and families who came out to eat, play and buy chocolate chip cookies. A percentage of all food sales (both in store and drive-through, Liberty family or not), goes to our PTO who supports our school students, staff and programs. Thank you again!
It's almost April 15th - Tax Day! Have you made your tax credit donation to Liberty? Don't forget our TAX CREDIT DONATION DRIVE! Our school goal is to receive 100 TAX CREDIT DONATIONS! SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION
Ahead of the April 8 solar eclipse, I would like to provide you with important information before our teachers communicate safe solar eclipse viewing practices to students the week of April 1 and up until the event on April 8. The eclipse will begin at 10:08 a.m., peak at 11:20 a.m., and conclude at 12:35 p.m.
On the day of the eclipse, elementary students will eat lunch indoors and will not be able to go outside for recess during the event. Middle and high school students will follow the lunch schedule as usual; these schools will not alter their normal routines.
Students may participate in classroom activities to view the solar eclipse, supervised by their teacher. Students will only be able to view the eclipse indirectly. If your child's classroom teacher has such activity planned, they will send home a "Campus Event Permission Form" that must be completed, signed and returned to school prior to April 8th.
Learn more about safe eclipse viewing from NASA
Parents and guardians who are concerned that their child may improperly look directly at the eclipse without using protective glasses are encouraged to keep their child home to remain under parent and guardian supervision. Eclipse viewing glasses that are brought from home are not permitted out of potential concern over student safety. It's important to have a conversation with your child(ren) about the dangers of viewing an eclipse without proper viewing glasses.
I hope this information is helpful in ensuring a safe and enjoyable solar eclipse viewing experience for students. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or me.

PLC COMMUNITY SURVEY
PVSchools Parents and Guardians,
In today's world, education is a critical component of success, and for students to succeed, schools must continue to be effective. Making data-informed decisions using staff Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support student achievement is one of the ways PVSchools remain effective.
Learn more about this support for students.
Listen to more on PVBeat, the PVSchools podcast.
To better support student success, PVSchools is collecting feedback for a possible change in process, which could include altering the school dismissal time one day per week, beginning in the 2025-26 school year.
Provide your feedback by completing the survey before April 12, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
FOOD DRIVE FOR PV FOOD BANK
Liberty will be hosting its annual food drive for the PV Food Bank from March 25th - April 26th. Classrooms will be collecting non-perishable food items, such as canned and boxed goods. The class with the most donations will win a pizza party from PV Food Bank! Thank you for supporting our local food bank!
DONUTS WITH THE DISTRICT - SAVE THE DATE!
Check out Donuts with the District for an opportunity for parents, guardians, and community members to meet with Superintendent Dr. Bales, Cabinet members, and Board members in an informal setting throughout the PVSchools district.
This casual meet and greet setting offers the community a chance to hear from district leadership as well as provide feedback on timely education topics.
This event, supporting the PVSchools Strategic Plan, promotes community strength and collaboration within the district. Check out a Donuts event this year!
Donuts with the District will be held April 25, 2024 from 10:00am–11:00am in the Liberty Elementary School Library.
