Student Opportunity- Team Engineering Challenge
Team Engineering Challenge
What: Teams of 2-4 students design and develop a prototype to solve a transportation-related problem provided by an imaginary potential "client". Team will be required to test and present their solution to the "clinet".
Who: 5th-8th grade (Junior Division) & 9-12th grade (Senior Division)
When: May 8th, 8am-6pm
Where: MSU-Mankato
Challenge Theme: Driving Change Through Transportation (this event is being held in tandem with the Minn State Engineering Center of Excellence's Engineering Machine Design Contest)
Cost: $25/student (includes all materials, supplies, t-shirt, mask and lunch)
Registration: Registration due April 25th. Space is Limited!

Senior Summer Opportunity
The City of Shakopee currently has a job posting for two student interns to work with the engineering division. These positions provide a great on the job learning opportunity for students pursuing civil engineering, natural resources, water resources and similar type careers. Student interns will be exposed to the following skills:
- Construction plan and spec reading
- AutoCAD and Civil 3D drafting
- Construction inspection (roads and utilities)
- GIS/GPS systems and equipment
- Traffic counting, radar speed signs, video capture equipment
- City project and development processes
- Pavement Management
- Storm water pond maintenance inspections, tree inventory and maintenance
The current posting is open until next Friday, February 26th, 2021. Please pass this on to your seniors (required age 18 by time of hire) or any other teaching staff that have engineering students. We would love to help some of your students gain valuable career experience and knowledge!
