Message from Julie
Hello RISD Elementary Families!
What an awesome turn out at our first Annual Trunk or Treat! What a great time - I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did! :) We are definitely going to keep this tradition going next year!
Can you believe that it is already November? I cannot! Report cards will be sent out after Thanksgiving Break. Our students are doing some great things!
Our Harvest Lunches are fast approaching - November 6 for SME and 11/14 at WES. Thanks to all who have sent in their sign ups. We are excited for an awesome turn out.
Important: The Holiday Concert is 12/11 at 6:30PM at Rivendell Academy.
A Note from Mrs. O'Hearn
Disability Awarenss Day is a Simulation Event held at school, where students will rotate through stations and get to feel what it would be like to have a real-life disability. Students will attend this event with their teachers. Volunteers are needed to run the stations. Please contact Mrs. Ann O'Hearn, School Counselor, if you are able to help out and volunteer at this event. No training is required, just your time and interest! :)

A Note from Mrs. Duvall -
Hello Rivendell Families! Concert season is quickly approaching and we're doing things a little differently this year. The elementary Winter Concert will be a combined concert for both Westshire and Samuel Morey schools. The Winter Concert will be on Tuesday, December 11th 630pm in the Rivendell Academy gymnasium. Students can wear seasonal dress clothes that align with the district dress code.
For students would like to practice at home, I have put links to lyrics and practice videos on my blog site. Please encourage your children to practice! Thank you for your continued support in the arts. https://musicwithmrsduvall.blogspot.com/

If you are someone who enjoys social media, please consider "liking" our WES and SME Facebook pages. I am trying hard to post often about the exciting and cool things that go on at our schools. It is also a great place to see reminders about school events.

Ways to Ask "How Was Your Day"
- What was the best part of your day at school?
- What was the worst part of your day?
- Tell me something strange or funny that you learned today.
- Pretend to be your teacher and explain something that your learned today.
- If I called your teacher, what do you think he or she would tell me about you?
- Tell me about a moment when you felt lost or didn’t understand what was going on.
- Did you help any of your friends today?
- If aliens were to abduct one of your classmates, which would you like it to be? Why?
- Who had the best lunch today? What were they eating?
- What game did you play during recess?
- Did you say or do anything you regret?
- Tell me about something kind you did today?
- If your class went on a school trip, who would you like to have as bus buddy?
- Who makes you laugh the most in class? What do they say or do that’s so funny?
- Tell me three things you did using your pencil or crayons.
- Which question(s) did you ask your teacher today? Would you have liked to ask anything else? Why didn’t you ask? Did you run out of time? Were you shy?
- Did you feel sad at any point during the day?
- Did you experience a moment when you were very proud of yourself?
- Where do you like to play during recess? Why?
- On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being a perfect day), how would you rate your day?
