BSD Family Updates
Tuesday, December 1, 2020
Dear BSD Families,
We hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!
As promised, we are reaching out today to provide an update on the status for in-person learning.
Because COVID-19 rates are high and are expected to increase over the holidays, our plan to return to school buildings remains on “pause.”
Our goal remains to bring back students K-12 for face-to-face learning as soon as possible.
We are committed to giving our parents and our staff as much notice as possible as decisions are made. However, we are not setting a specific reopening date as there are too many unknowns at this point. We want to minimize frustration and disappointment for families by setting a date now, given the possibility that date will change if COVID rates increase as public health officials predict. We can tell you that:
- We will continue to offer in-person instruction to some self-contained special education students who are unable to access services remotely.
- We will provide an update on our plans and timeline on Wednesday, January 6.
- The Washington Intercollegiate Activities Association (WIAA) amended its schedule for the 2020-21 school year, pushing back the start of its winter season to February 1.
- We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 data and follow the Washington State Department of Health “Decision Tree” as we evaluate our reentry plans and timeline.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Sincerely,
Aaron Leavell, Ed.D
