Gradebook
*The gradebook is to be used as a tool to communicate skill mastery.
Best practices:
* 0-100 (A-F) scale
* No 108%
*RIgorous Academic scores
*Gradebook should reflect accurate eligibility. (No missing work set to count as zero)
* Absolutely NO conduct grades
* Participation grade would not be a rigorous academic score
If more than half your class is failing, we need to take a look at what is going on in the classroom. If they are all failing tests, we may need to re-teach. If they have lots of zero's, what are we doing to help those students get their work turned in.
Instructional Practices
- 3-5 Seconds wait time
- Calling on individual students more often than whole group https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1O37LrjmXBRYE6x3LkVuBdLTKG8GP2leLjo_J_p-5jxs/edit?usp=sharing (Random Name Pickers)
- Using exit tickets (You may use these as grades. They are considered a formative assessment)
- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LVze8J4g3UD0n7aY44l09MUq-zMMYkJZ/view?usp=sharing (Exit Ticket)
*Review your TLE rubric weekly to stay abreast of what should be happening in your classroom.

Dave Burgess "The People Prop Hook"
*Can we create a human graph, chart, map, or equation?
*Can students be assigned a specific step in a process or an event and then have to order themselves sequentially?
Can some students be props and the rest of the class "prop movers?"
Discipline
- Love and Logic
- Enforceable Statements
- Control through Choices
- Empathetic Response
Primaries:
Student does not have supplies
Student does not want to work
Student sleeping in class
Absolutes:
Student Cusses you out
Refusal to give name
Refusal to sit in assigned seat
These are just a few examples but the more you handle in the classroom the better.
Remember-when you settle for a referral, you lose authority/power over the child.

Thursday's tornado drill was a huge success. You all had students in rooms and safe in no time at all. Great job Ninth Grade Team! We loved seeing everyone in College Gear this past Friday!
Our students know when you really believe in them and want to build individual relationships with them. We've seen so many of you work on building these relationships with students to reach them in the classroom. Keep up the good work. It makes the business of schooling worth it when your efforts shine through our students.
Thanks for filling in, covering classes, and being a huge support for each other. Your teamwork shines. We are all in this together. Together, we will help our students meet their goals and help each other meet our individual and group goals. Find the little successes everyday!
