The Little Things Make It All Worth It
Being the Principal of Nottingham School is extremely rewarding, but as in any profession, there can certainly be some challenging days for one reason or another. One of the things that will never waver is my commitment to our students and making sure that we are putting them in the best position to succeed, both today and in the future. I received this card yesterday and wanted to share it with all of you. It brought a smile to my face and reinforces all of our hard work. It has quickly earned some wall space in my office. Although it was given to me, this card could have easily been given to any one of our staff members.
Pizza & Kindness!
Congratulations to our second winner, Nathan Belanger! He was nominated because "he is always polite and greets both classmates and teachers with a smile. He offers to help his friends with anything and everything." Nathan received a coupon for a free pizza from Liar's Paradise. Thanks to Liar's Paradise for helping to spread Kindness at Nottingham School! Great job Nathan!
8th Grade Library News - Mrs. Robie
This rotation, the students created their own "Breakout" games (essentially escape rooms in a box) and then had their classmates play them this week. Looks like fun!
Pre-School News
At the end of March, the afternoon PreK class celebrated 100 Days of School! They have been working hard on counting each and every day they have attended since August. Everyone enjoyed finishing the 100 day board and sharing 100 items that they brought from home!
Buddy Classroom Activity
Buddy Classrooms 1A and 3FG did a nature scavenger hunt together. They helped each other look closely and find interesting items out in the schoolyard. We are so happy that some clearer weather has finally allowed outdoor learning opportunities!
Trout Release - Mrs. Buzzell's Class
Trout in the Classroom is made possible by NH Fish and Game and the Great Bay Chapter of Trout Unlimited. They provided the chiller that keeps the water at optimal temperatures for raising brook trout.
Students were able to observe the eggs as they developed; today we released about 150 healthy, active fry into the North River. It was hard to spot them in the water as they blend in perfectly with their surroundings! What a great way to combine learning & real life experiences!
8th Grade Algebra
This is a project from Mrs. Lapiejko's 8th grade Algebra 1 class. Using ideas about surface area, volume, and package design, students needed to design and build a carton that would hold 18 candies that are 1.5 cm high and have a 2 cm width.

Sunshine Committee Fun
Our Staff had a little fun this week, (I'll allow this every once in awhile haha) by having a Rock, Paper, Scissor Challenge! Below is our winner, Paraprofessional Jen Heitger! Congratulations!
Knight's Hour Assembly
We had a Storyteller planned for months (sponsored by the PTA, thank you!) to come entertain students with tales tied to our K.N.I.G.H.T. Community Standards, (Kind, Necessary, Inclusive, Grateful, Hard Working, Trustworthy & Safe) but unfortunately he had to cancel due to illness. So we had a last minute change to a Rock, Paper, Scissor Student Competition. The themes of kindness, teamwork and good sportsmanship were at the fore front along with the overall message that Kindness Always Beats Rock, Paper, Scissors! Here are some photos from the assembly. It was a fun way to send everyone into vacation with smiles!
8th Grade Social Studies
Eighth grade students in Mrs. Polzin's class researched Civil War battles during their study of the war. They created 3D battle boards to demonstrate their knowledge. Then, eighth grade students held an exhibition of their work for students in grades 3 -7. They all learned a lot and had some fun along the way!
8th Grade Math Project
Mrs. Lapiejko's students traced a picture onto regular sized graph paper and then created a proportional picture (similar figure) as the poster.
March Madness Library Style
We have a winner in our Library March Madness event after a month of competition. Congratulations to The Pigeon who narrowly beat out Winnie the Pooh!
