All About the First Thanksgiving
The History of Thanksgiving
Each year on the third Thursday of November, American families celebrate Thanksgiving. When America was first beginning, Pilgrims sailed on the Mayflower to reach this new land. When they arrived they struggled to live. Luckily they met the Wampanoag Indians. These Indians helped teach them how to hunt and survive. To celebrate, they joined together for a feast.
What's For Dinner?
The First Thanksgiving Feast had deer, turkey, quail, pumpkins, corn, cornbread and more.
The Thankful Pilgrims
The pilgrims were thankful to have met the Wampanoag Indians and for their help. They worked together to create a feast to share.
The Welcoming Indians
The Indians taught the Pilgrims how to plant, hunt, and use the Earth to help them live.
What Are You Thankful For?
We have so many blessings. On Thanksgiving we join together to remember all that we have to be thankful for. What are you thankful for? Families, friends, homes, food, water, heat, clothes. Think about the blessings you have in your life.
