Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade

Moving Right Along
I have the most AMAZING job...to get to see 21 third graders learn, grown, and develop is so rewarding and makes me HAPPY!
Things I saw happen in Room 9 this week...
- At the end of the day, Jack informed me that he got his math materials out and put them on top of his desk so he would be ready for math when he came to school the next day!
- Cole worked through a frustrating situation and set up a VERY COOL scientific experiment involving Wisconsin Fast plants.
- Addi asked some really great questions as Mrs. Moots was presenting BRAIN information to our class!
- Evangelin is combining her Persuasive Writing topic with her SSL learning. She is learning a lot!
- Saryu was proactive last week and really got a jump-start on her persuasive writing.
- Listening to Griffin read with expression during a reading conference was amazing! It was like he was one of the characters!
- Ella takes me seriously when I talk about being an ACTIVE listener/learner. As I am teaching, she is raising her hand, giving me thumbs up to show me she is following, and always shows she is ready to answer a question!
- Hazel's sweet little self brought me a sweet tea from McDonald's when she returned from her orthodontist appointment!
These are just a few of the MANY things I observed! Stay tuned for more...
We have three weeks until we begin ISTEP testing. The first round of tests are given paper/pencil style. We test again in April. That test will be taken on the computer. You can help your child prepare for this test by encouraging him/her to read each night. I don't require it, but I encourage a few minutes of reading at night.
Did anyone sign up to try the EPIC app? Remember, the first 30 days are free.
Looking forward to a GREAT week next week!
Enjoy your weekend...

- Inquiry Project: Each student got to choose from 3 questions that relate to plants. Be sure to ask your child what he/she will study over the next few weeks.
