A Message from our Principal...
Dear Jefferson Families,
Our winter break is upon us. All of us from Jefferson School wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and peaceful time off from school. It is my hope that everyone is able to rest and feel rejuvenated. Students have shared with me some of their favorite family traditions and rituals that happen only this time of the year. They are excited and ready to enjoy time with family and friends. We are excited for them too!
Every year I look for ways to convince students that winter break would be a wonderful time to dive into at least one good book. Interestingly, I recently learned of a tradition that is celebrated throughout the country of Iceland. It’s called Jolabokaflod, or the "Christmas Book Flood." Every Christmas Eve, people exchange books and then spend the evening reading. People in Iceland read more books per year on average than any other country! What a wonderful tradition. I give my family members a new book every year on Christmas. They tell me that they look forward to my picks, as I try hard to find something uniquely different each year. My winter break wish for everyone is for them to get lost in a good book, for at least a few hours.
Happy Holidays, Jefferson Families. See you in January 2022!
Sincerely,
Dr. Judy Floeter and Mrs. Tasha Rayas
