At namesake school, Erskine known for his commitment to education
Roller receives Max Beigh Award
Anderson Intermediate School 6th grade teacher Mrs. Chelsea Roller was selected as this year's Max Beigh Award winner earlier this month. The award, established in 2015, is named in honor of longtime Exchange Club member Max Beigh, who was a teacher and counselor at Anderson High School for many years.
Other ACS educators nominated for the award this year include: Mrs. Carly Olinger (Tenth Street Elementary School), Ms. Mia Goins (Eastside Elementary School), Ms. Donna Allen (Edgewood Elementary School), Mrs. Andrea Lien (Valley Grove Elementary School), Mrs. Misty Bowers (Erskine Elementary School), and Ms. Stephanie Salazar (Anderson Elementary School).
Streamlining diplomas holds promise of better long-term outcomes
King receives Paul Harris Fellow award
Anderson High School (AHS) senior Connor King was awarded with the Paul Harris Fellow award by the Anderson Rotary Club earlier this month. He received the award for his outstanding contributions towards creating positive change in society.
AHS Rube Goldberg team places 3rd in national competition
The Anderson High School (AHS) Rube Goldberg team finished 3rd place in the high school division of the Rube Goldberg competition at Purdue University. The students created a 45 step machine that put toothpaste on a toothbrush.
AHS Calculus Team places 5th in national competition
The Anderson High School Calculus Team placed 5th in the Clemson Calculus Challenge held at Clemson University earlier this month. Team members are: Jacob Rust, Connor King, Jaylin Hernandez, Karson King, Jensen Shryock, Isaac Knost, Gavin Chase, Spencer Proctor, Jaci Reed and Tim Ziuchkovski.
Erskine students place 3rd in Math Bowl competition
Earlier this month the Erskine All-Star Math Bowl team competed in a math bowl competition at Yorktown Middle School. These students and their coaches Darin Axel-Adams and Mercedes Hutton met every Tuesday morning since November in preparation for this competition. The team's hard work paid off and they placed third in their division.
Loy competes in the Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair
Eastside Elementary School 5th grader Kaylen Loy participated in the Hoosier Science in Engineering Fair at IUPUI earlier this month. She received the second place Future Female Engineer Award. Along with that award she received a $300 prize.
Returning Student Registration event held at Anderson High School
It was a great turnout last week at Anderson High School for our Returning Student Registration event! Thank you to all our families for brining out students this evening to get them registered for next school year. We also want to thank our school and central office staff for coming out to assist with the event. More information on enrolling new students and registering returning students can be found on our website here.
Office of Special Services hosts Community Collaboration event
Our Office of Special Services hosted a Community Colloboration event at the Administration earlier this month. We had a great turnout! Presenters included: Sarah Shultz, The Columbus Organization, Felicia Managus, Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services, and Shelia McNutt, ACS teacher and parent. These meetings will be held quarterly. The next meeting is scheduled for August.
Over 14,000 Eclipse glasses donated to children in Latin America
We would like to thank everyone for donating their Solar Eclipse glasses to us. Together we were able to collect 14,197 pairs! We delivered them last week to Vessel Refillery FW who is a collection partner of Astronomers Without Borders. Each pair of glasses will be vetted for safety and authenticity. Once passing the quality inspection, glasses will be given to children in Latin America for their Total Solar Eclipse later this year.

We are so pleased to partner with a variety of organizations to provide summer programming for our students. We have compiled a list on our website of summer programming being offered by Anderson Community Schools and other organizations in and around Anderson. We will continue to add new programs to this list as they become available.
Indiana SUN Bucks Program
The Indiana Department of Education recently released information about the Indiana SUN Bucks program. Summer 2024 will be the first year for Indiana SUN Bucks, a new benefits program that provides families $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out...more.
Anderson Gaslight Student Essay Contest
The City of Anderson is having a Student Essay Contest as part of the 2024 Gaslight Festival. The essay contest is open to all students in grades K-12. New Point of Sale (POS) system
