Peek at the Week
Week of 4/23/2018
Shepherd Middle School in the News
This week begins our school wide Threshold Tutoring plan. Each Core Academic teacher has identified students who have dropped a threshold from last years STAAR test to the most current benchmark assessment. This approach to intervention/tutoring focusses on all students, not necessarily those who fall in the 'red zone.' This is truly the best way to capture, Approaches, Meets and Masters learners. The average of the three categories of measure is what will give the District their Report Card for the 2017-2018 school year. For the 2018-2019 school year, it will be the way that Shepherd Middle School is measured for their Report Card.
Adolescent learners crave structure and purpose. This week, focus on keeping these in the forefront of your classroom. Routines and Procedures, along with high expectations, are a must this time of year. We must stay the course and be emotionally resilient for our students to succeed. As teachers, we are role models and must possess this same characteristic, as we travel through the valleys of life. It is not an option. Take care of yourselves mentally, physically and emotionally.
