Week of Dec 5th Classes of Ms. Postema and Mrs. Blankenship
It was a pleasure seeing so many families represented at our Holiday Lunch! Thank you for attending!
Curriculum Update
Ms. Postema's students will present at 8:30.
Mrs. Blankenship's students will present at 10:30.
The students will also be completing a review of AKS objectives in advance of their District Assessment that will be given the following week as well as a GMAS formatted cold read that will count as a summative assessment.
Writing/Grammar- The students will be working on a review of verb tense and will be introduced to perfect tense verbs. They will also be practicing writing to a single text by drawing information from a non-fiction source.
Greek/Latin Roots- Our roots for next week are hosp/onym/host. The DG is scheduled for Friday.
Social Studies- We will begin our study of important geographical locations related to the Turn of the Century unit. Students will be expected to locate Gettysburgh, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Kitty Hawk, NC, the Grand Canyon, the Mojave Desert, the Chisolm Trail, and the Salton Sea. The final social studies test before DAs will be given December 14th.
Math - We will continue our fraction unit with finding the area of rectangles where the sides are fractional lengths. We will have a test on multiplying fractions on Wednesday.
Science - We will continue our unit on constructive and destructive forces with a focus on technology and human intervention in the prediction and control of earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods. We will have a lab at the end of the week, which will be a test grade. If you signed up to send in any supplies for the lab, please send them in by Tuesday.
