Thank you to everyone that was able to come to our Veterans Day ceremony. It was so fun to have Leah's dad speak at the assembly and so many of you had grandparents and family members there to represent the military. It was moving. The kids did a great job singing and it was a lovely and moving way to honor those who have served and are currently. My husband, dad and both grandfathers all served in the military. We also enjoyed seeing our own Mrs. Brigance run with the USA flag as part of a Veterans Day relay the town of Flower Mound puts on each year. We cheered and were so excited to be part of this moment with her. It was a great day!
This week holds many fun things! We will have the Denton traveling museum here to talk to us about "then and now" artifacts and how they tell a story of our past.
We will also rotate on Thursday and Friday through the different 2nd grade classrooms for our colonial day activities. Each teacher will be presenting either a Native American or Colonial type activity for the kids. Should be fun and educational.
Have a great week!

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language Arts-We are learning about procedural texts. We read directions on yoga poses, tried them out, then created our own with the procedures to go with them. We also are creating our own "how to draw" posters. We are reading all types of "how to" books, recipes, procedural texts and manuals. We will continue this the next two weeks.
Social Studies-We are focused on then and now. We are also still looking at celebrations, customs and landmarks. We enjoyed learning bout Diwali this week with our own Ms Shanthi coming and speaking to us about the Festival of Lights celebration in India.
Science-We explored magnets. We focused on the vocabulary words repel, attract, magnetic field and poles.
