Morning Message Videos
Jeanie Millspaugh and Natalie Johnson shared ways they are implementing the 'Morning Message' writing time into their day. Check out the videos at the bottom of the page for great ways to teach this daily writing lesson in your classroom through journals and shared writing time! Also, please let me know if I may come to your room to video ways that you are incorporating authentic writing during your morning message! I'd love to feature them in an upcoming issue of 'The Quest'!

Math Info, Updates, and Reminders:
•The full Math block cycle consists of the following components. Times listed are appropriate for this point in the year and may vary by class. As students build stamina, times may increase, especially in station tubs:
1. Number Talk: 3-5 min Pre-K, 2-3 min PPCD
(M-F specific lessons with questioning listed on the ‘Number Talks At-A-Glance’ handout)
2. Problem Solving: 7-10 min Pre-K, 3-5 min PPCD
(This time includes lesson and questioning on the poster used with manipulatives, plus modeling one station tub that will be used the following week. PPCD may use only manipulatives—not posters.)
3. Station Tubs: 7-10 min Pre-K, 3-5 min PPCD
(Tubs from previous weeks)
4. Reflection: 5 min Pre-K , integrated into station tub time in PPCD
(This involves students sitting on carpet and reflecting on what they did/learned while using the materials in the tub. Focus should be on mathematical language and communicating their thinking.)
