Elizabethan Fashion
All you need to know about the current styles.
Smock:
The basic undergarment can be worn in many styles. The low necked smock is currently in style and the high necked gathered smock and the high necked ungathered smock have fallen out of style. Beware of the low necked ungathered smock! It has been out of style for 20 years! Stick with the low necked ungathered smock.
Spanish Farthingale:
Although it is not commonly seen, the decorative underskirt must be luxurious and brightly colored to be considered fashionable The color of the farthingale and the covering for the hoops MUST be the same color. Otherwise, it will clash.
Petticoat:
Blue is out! Red is in! Collection of blue petticoats to give to the poor are at Ye Old Widows Organization. The new Red petticoats are going to be in more shops in the next few weeks so get ready to be fashionable!
Gown:
Make sure to have a low neckline on your gown to accentuate your pale white skin! If you have somewhat dark skin, see Makeup
Makeup:
To get that flawless pale white skin, apply white lead for a foundation base. Some say it is bad for the skin but no worries! Feel free to apply liberally! It works very well for clearing up acne as well! After that, apply red ceruse to your lips and cheeks.
Hats:
The head MUST be adorned with a French hood, cappe, cawl and kercher. Hats made of cloth of gold and cloth of silver are the highest quality and the most fashionable! Bright colors and metallic colors really look well with the current summer style!

About the Globe
The Globe was built in 1599 out of timber. It was built for the Chamberlain's Men by Cuthbert Burbage. The Globe was a hexagonal structure that was three stories high with no roof. It held about 1,500 people. Besides the inner and outer stage there was a large cellar called hell, in which ghosts would appear for the plays. Behind the stages there was the tiring-house, the three story section of the playhouse that contained the dressing rooms, the prop room and the musician's gallery. The first level was an inner stage when the actors needed it. It was for calling a "scene within a scene", when "a character or item needed to be dramatically revealed", or when a scene called for a small place. The second floor had a balcony (used in Romeo and Juliet many times) and window stages on each side. The window stages were for when an actor needed to be seen through a window. The third level had "a central music gallery and two large lofts on either side of it, used as storage and dressing rooms". The third floor was where the orchestra and the musical instruments in storage were.
