Title 1 Planning Meeting
Family Engagement Weekly Tip
Listen to your teen…and to the teacher
It's important for teens to feel heard and believed. If your teen tells you something a teacher did that seemed unkind or unfair, you should listen. But don't assume the incident was as bad as it sounds. If you are disturbed by what your teen says, contact the teacher. Express your concern calmly and say you want to understand the situation better. If there's a problem, you can work together to solve it.
Reboot a bad morning for a better day
Everyone has those mornings. Your teen is grouchy and moving slowly. You keep repeating "hurry up." Sometimes the best cure is beginning again. Stop and say to your teen, "Hey, this isn't going too well. Let's start the morning over!" Leave the room, and then come back in with a big smile and say, "Good morning!" You may start laughing together, and you'll have a healthier, more productive day.
Credit Recovery Opportunities for Spring Semester
- The purpose of credit recovery is to provide high school students with an opportunity to recover credit for selected courses previously attempted and failed with a grade between a 50 – 69 %.
- The course is designed for students to complete with limited or NO assistance from a local school monitor or teacher.
- Students must attend in person after school from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm on the designated days for the session.
- If they finish before the session ends, then they do not have to stay after school.
- Students may work on their course anytime. This means they can work on it at home, before school, during lunch, or anytime it is convenient.
- Again, they must report to the assigned room the week they have signed up for, until it is completed.
