Forest Lake Area Middle School
2021-2022 School Year
Welcome Back to School!!
It's hard to believe in about three weeks our students will be back to school!! On behalf of the entire Middle School staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! We look forward to working together to help our students meet the challenges they will face as they live and work in the 21st century. The FLAMS staff has been extremely busy this summer, not only with routine procedures, but also preparing for the many new faces we will welcome to our school this year. We can't wait to meet you!!
Ms. Lang

Please continue to help our mitigation of COVID-19 by wearing a mask if you are not vaccinated and staying distanced.
Student Schedules
Schedules should be viewable in your ParentVue and StudentVue accounts on Monday August 23rd. In previous years we have noticed that for some students this upload might take a few hours. If you don’t see your schedule on the 23rd, you should by the morning of the 24th.
At the middle school, each student is placed on a team in order to help facilitate deep connections with other students and make the transition to middle school go smoothly. The easiest way to determine which team your child is on is to look at the room numbers where their classes are located. Rooms that include a G are on the Green Team (e.g. G11), rooms that include a T are on the Tangerine Team, and rooms that include a B are on the Blue Team. Simply assess what letter (G, T, or B) is on the schedule the most often and that will show what team your student is on.
Another great aspect of our school is that we have a licensed school counselor assigned to each team. They are as follows:
Blue Team - Sarah Fischer (sfischer@flaschools.org) 651-982-3005
Green Team - Amy Needham (aneedham@flaschools.org) 651-982-3006
Tangerine Team - Travis Gjerning (tgjerning@flaschools.org) 651-982-3007
Schedule change requests will not be accepted this year. Exceptions will only be made to those courses where the student was academically misplaced. Please email or call your counselor if you need a schedule change for this reason.
Please keep in mind that there is still a little balancing that needs to take place. This may impact what period a student takes a course but won't impact the specific courses each student takes. If any significant changes to a student schedule need to be made we will give you a call. It will be important to check your schedule one last time just before school starts to ensure you have the most recent version.
ParentVue
ParentVUE is our student information system where parents can go to find grades, report cards, attendance information and more.
- If you have never created a ParentVUE account, please contact the school for your activation code. If you have forgotten your password, you can follow the prompts on the ParentVUE login screen to create a new password.
- Important: From now until the 2nd week of school, ParentVUE will require families to review their student’s complete enrollment information to make sure that all records are correct. Once you have done that, you will be able to log in and use ParentVUE as normal. This requirement is to ensure that we have up-to-date contact and health information for each student in case of an emergency.
- Instructions: When you log in, click on “Begin Registration” and ParentVUE will walk you through the process to update your child’s enrollment information.
- TIP: Log on to ParentVUE today to take care of reviewing your student’s enrollment information. That way when teacher assignments are released, you’ll be able to access your child’s class assignment without the delay.
If you need help logging into ParentVue or StudentVue please reach out to us at mbjohnson@flaschools.org or by calling 651-982-3100. We’re here to help.
