PRAIRIE POST
December 22, 2017
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians of the PAWSOME PUMAS,
I want to share on behalf of the entire Prairie Family how grateful we are to have the opportunity to educate and nurture your children each and every day. I can not believe how fast the time is flying this school year. We have continually worked together to C.L.I.M.B. the Mountain of Success. The time has come for us to bring a close to the 2017 school year. Celebrations that I would like to highlight over the last year include but are not limited to:
School-Wide Growth on the MAPs and Forward Exam
Prairie's 50th Celebration
The Eye Of The Puma
Puma Palooza
Halloween Dance
Creation of our First Legacy Tree
Implementation of a College and Career Ready School-Wide Focus
We could not have accomplished any of this alone. Our school culture and community is growing because of the dedication we have to ensure that every scholar in our school is successful. The educators at Prairie would like to extend a warm thank you for the gifts and demonstrations of gratitude from you and members of our school community. We wanted to share with you that the greatest gift that you give us are your children. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Please enjoy the holiday season, and we look forward to welcoming in the 2018 school year with you when we return to school on Tuesday, January 2nd.

PTA News
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone. We are looking forward to more fun PTA activities starting in the New Year.
January Events:
Restaurant Night: Monday, January 8th 5-8 p.m. at Culver’s on Sunset. Come join your Prairie friends at Culver's. The flavor of the day will be Mint Chip.
PTA Meeting: Tuesday, January 9th 6:30p.m. in the Prairie library. Join us as we hear from Principal Griffin and discuss other PTA business. Free childcare is available for school aged children from Red Cross Certified Babysitters. Tune in on Facebook Live if you cannot attend in person.
Science Night – Fire and Ice: Friday, January 12th 6:30p.m.-7:30p.m. Children will be dazzled and entertained as they interact with our Mad Scientists! Foggy dry ice storms, giant beach balls floating in the air and even a special Mad Science “burp” potion will amaze children as they learn about chemical reactions, air pressure and the states of matter.
Collections: The next deadline is February 2nd. Congratulations to Mrs. Winkler’s 4th grade class who brought in the most collections items this month and will get to host Puma Claws in their classroom. Congratulations as well to Mrs. Ferguson’s class who won a pajama day and Mrs. Dugan’s class who won a crazy hair day. The top classroom for collections for the entire 2017-18 school year will get to turn Mr. Griffin into Pikachu at Puma Palooza on Sat. May 5th!
Looking ahead:
Art & Talent Showcase on Fri. 3/9 (new date): Prairie students get a chance to show their stuff! Cheerleading, dancing, singing, playing instruments, comedy, magic, or for those less likely to get on stage, directing a Prairie commercial, drawing, sculpting or anything else you consider art. General guidelines are 2 minutes or less and no lip syncing. More information will come home shortly after Winter Break.
