DID can actually be treated
It may take several years but DID can be cured through various therapeutic methods. There are many cases in which DID has been successfully cured throughout history. It is not a severe condition that exists for life, and it is not inherent like some also think. That's just to debunk some quick myths.
DID is also known as Multiple Personality Disorder
This is not true though all the time though, it may not just be multiple personalities, but actually just different states that can be brought out through specific triggers or random circumstances. MPD is just the more common term. Correctly, it is Dissociative Identity Disorder
Louis Vivet
Born February 12, 1863. He was born to a prostitute and was neglected, was traumatized by a viper, had ten (some believe only three) personalities from then on. First reported case of DID.
Robert Oxnam
American scholar that struggled with his mental health. He was about to leave his therapy and stop it completely when one of his personalities, a young boy named tommy, showed himself to his therapist, they continued to find he had 11 personalities. Which were whittled down to three.
Juanita Maxwell
She was 23 years old when a 72 year old guest was brutally murdered. She was tried because she had his blood on her, during the trial one of her 6 personalities Wanda came out and shocked the entire room. While the girl was quiet and rejected the crime Wanda was loud and violent and confessed to beating him ruthlessly with a lamp. She never went to prison, even after getting out of the mental hospital and robbing two banks. Well after Wanda robbed two banks.
Debunked myths
Myth 1: People can transfer personalities instantly
The truth is it can minutes, days, or months, for someone to switch personalities
Myth 2: People with DID are just forgetful
They are not forgetful, almost all diagnosed DID patients have extreme memory loss.
Myth 3: People are faking it
In some cases personalities will accept or deny the existence of other personalities in the body.
